If that's the case, then the expected would be unexpected, and since the unexpected is expected, which is subsequently unexpected, we're right back where we started. :-)

Yes, but expecting the unexpected doesn't make the unexpected really expected.

It's kind of like expecting a car to come, but you don't know what kind of car it is... you still know a car is coming, but you still don't know what car it is... therefor it's expected, yet unexpected as well.
