Cicie,
An excellent question. If you read the bible closely, the answer is yes. Jesus kept all the customs of the Jews, and all of His followers, including Paul, did also. What most folks don't realize, is that the religion we call "Christianity", didn't come into existence, until the year 325 A.D., at the Council of Nicea. The Roman Emporer Constantine, was losing control of his empire, and the followers of Jesus had a lot to do with it. He called all of the leaders of the movement, known as The Way, to Nicea. He ordered them to come up with a single orthodox faith, which he would be in charge of. Many of the original teachings of Jesus were lost. Many new elements were added, some of them pagan. The scriptures they worked with, were re-written by men called "correctores". Anything which did not agree with the new faith, was destroyed. Any of the leaders who did not fall into line with the new beliefs, were exhiled, or worse. Constantine finally had his "one size fits all" religion. The thing that Jesus came to teach us, is simple, and elegant. "The Kingdom of God, is within you". When we come to God as humble children, and invite Him into our hearts, He sends His Spirit into us, and bonds with us. We become new creatures, part mortal, part Immortal. The old values of materialism and fear fall away. Love and Wisdom, become the foundation of all our choices. We have entered the Path of Eternity, and we will never be the same. To answer your original question, God doesn't have denominations, or churches, He has children. It is up to us as individuals, to decide if we want Him to be our Father.

Jesus was Jewish. You know throughout history there were many Jews that claimed to be prothets. Jesus was the most succesful in this. The spread of Christianity has a lot to do this Roman roads. This allowed early christians to travel and spread religion. Judaism is unique in fact that Jews would never want to convince and talk a non-Jew into becoming Jewish. In fact in many cases Jews discouaging non-Jews from converting to Judaism. They believe that if anyone should convert it should be their own choice. Now back to Jesus disscussuon. He did not want to start a new religion. He just wanted to be accepted as messiah. There are reasons that Jews don't accept Jesus as a messiah.

"Most of the textual requirements concerning the messiah and what he will do are located within the Book of Isaiah, although requirements are mentioned in other prophets as well.

The Sanhedrin will be re-established (Isaiah 1:26)
Once he is King, leaders of other nations will look to him for guidance. (Isaiah 2:4)
The whole world will worship the One God of Israel (Isaiah 2:17)
He will be descended from King David (Isaiah 11:1) via King Solomon (1 Chron. 22:8-10)
The Moshiach will be a man of this world, an observant Jew with "fear of God" (Isaiah 11:2)
Evil and tyranny will not be able to stand before his leadership (Isaiah 11:4)
Knowledge of God will fill the world (Isaiah 11:9)
He will include and attract people from all cultures and nations (Isaiah 11:10)
All Jews will be returned to their homeland (Isaiah 11:12)
He will swallow up death forever (Isaiah 25:8)
There will be no more hunger or illness, and death will cease (Isaiah 25:8)
All of the dead will rise again (Isaiah 26:19)
The Jewish people will experience eternal joy and gladness (Isaiah 51:11)
He will be a messenger of peace (Isaiah 52:7)
Nations will end up recognizing the wrongs they did Israel (Isaiah 52:13-53:5)
For My House shall be called a house of prayer for all nations (Isaiah 56:3-7)
The peoples of the world will turn to the Jews for spiritual guidance (Zechariah 8:23)
The ruined cities of Israel will be restored (Ezekiel 16:55)
Weapons of war will be destroyed (Ezekiel 39:9)
The Temple will be rebuilt (Ezekiel 40) resuming many of the suspended mitzvot
He will then perfect the entire world to serve God together, as it is written (Zephaniah 3:9)
Jews will know the Torah without Study (Jeremiah 31:33)
He will give you all the desires of your heart (Psalms 37:4)
He will take the barren land and make it abundant and fruitful (Isaiah 51:3, Amos 9:13-15, Ezekiel 36:29-30, Isaiah 11:6-9) "

Jesus obviously did not fullful all those requirements and thus Jews dod not accept him as a messiah. Once again Jesus was Jewish. He did not want to start a new religion. No, Jews don't believe that everyone should be Jewish. Being Jewish is a unique experience and Jews belive that is a person that wants to be Jewish he can become one thorugh convertion, but they would not want to "convince" people to become Jewish.

Jesus was born a Jew, lived his life as a Jew, followed all the rules of the Jewish religion and the Last Supper was a Passover Seder. So you figure it out. When he comes back, he will be horrified at what has been done in his name.

If hitler was christian, would that make all his followers christian?
If the president would be a muslim, would that make everyone who voted for him a muslim?

just because jesus was jewish does not mean his followers were/are jewish. All it means is that jesus was jewish. No more and no less.

Contrary to what whirleymirc said, Jews and Christians are completely different. Christians believe in the Trinity. Jews believe in a single, whole God.

Whirleymirc, you're just meshugane.

No. But Jesus was Jewish. Everyone shouldn't be just one religion. Everyone should believe whatever makes them happy and comfortable in life since not one single religion is 100% correct, it is probably many features from many religions that is the truth.
