Many atheists complain about us being to strict and our moral code being something that is more hammering them and the saved than a blessing. The scriptures are not the problem. They are perfect. Its how we interpret them. For instance, I think there is such a legalistic thing put on girls. Its such a big deal when guys look at girls or lust that it makes them obsessive. Many times I think we make girls such a sin that it makes some chiristian men turn gay.I recently read of a well known minister who had a gay affair. Hes OK now but he was so obsessed about " not lusting ".that he went the other way Girls are cool. We are here to pretty up the planet and its ok to think we are pretty. Our Lord Jesus can help christian men love and enjoy being around us and also have a pure mind at the same time. Its when you make all these huge rules about conduct that it gets crazy. We should just relax..pray and adore the Lord..and trust Him to keep us all clean. Why preach on and on about lust ?

One of the things I've learned here on YA is that "no sin is greater than any other." (Assuming one believes in 'sin,' which I don't.) This is kinda, sorta one of the tenets of Christianity, and goes hand in hand with the ability to be 'forgiven' for basically anything.

However, it seems like many people with a Christian agenda seem to have not realized this. These people demonize homosexuals while merrily cheating on their spouses. According to the book which is held in such high regard, adultery and homosexuality are exactly the same in the eyes of god, so why the double standard?

As for girls, this made me think of something that I read earlier today. It seems that there has been a tremendous outcry over the cover of a baby magazine that shows a nursing child, complete with breast in profile (no nipple is shown.) From the article: "I shredded it," said Gayle Ash, of Belton, Texas, in a telephone interview. "A breast is a breast — it's a sexual thing. He didn't need to see that."

This is the result of a society gone mad. Sexualizing something like breastfeeding is something that would only occur to someone with deep-seated sexual issues. Strangely, it seems that the conservatives and religious are constantly seeing sexual boogeymen everywhere. How is it that the arbiters of decency seem to be the ones with the most perverse brains?

Tsk, tsk, tsk. There is nothing wrong with our religion. and the minister needed to get real. Every one of us has and always will be affected by lust. The one who says he/she have no lusts are either dead or lying. It's what you do afterwards that is the point. You can ask God for forgiveness and confess your sins. The minister of all people should realise that we are not perfect in this world and God doesn't expect us to be perfect. We fall short ok? Would Jesus be crucified if He thinks we don't need to be saved? Of course not.

As someone said- I'd ratehr live my life as if there is a God and found out in the end there is none than live my life like there is no God and finding out in the end that there really is a God. ;)

It amazes me how many Christians do not even know the history of how the Old Testament was written, they just accept that it was written by the Disciples. It was not. The Emperor Constantine of Rome called the conclave around 400AD and it was then that the books of the Old Testament were decided upon. Many books were disallowed, mostly because they portrayed Jesus as a man instead of a God. Most of the Old Testament can be traced to earlier so called 'Pagan' mythologies of the Ancient World. The story of Jesus itself is an amalgam of the Mythology of Horus and the history of a real man named John of Gamalla. The Old and New testaments were written by men who craved power and control. organized religion is a total sham, and should be discarded along with Witchcraft, Ghosts, Bigfoot and Nessie.

I agree but I don't think liking women a lot and then trying not to like women to not sin would not turn a person gay. That story about a minister sounds kind of fake. Anyways, yeah, the bible says to be discipline our minds and to take control of it. But I don't think women should be flaunting themselves as mere sex objects because that could justify a lot of horrible things.

Well, as the Law is a teacher until the child grows up, some men are still children and need the teacher.

What a whopper of an excuse from that minister! He turned having an affair into a virtue. Sorry, but no one "turns gay" because they love women too much.

Atheists aren't really atheists. They think that 'just in case there is a God', he'll surely shine down on me for being open minded, intelligent, and an overall good person.
