My friend is having a baby and I was going to make a little book up for her with Bible verses, quotes, and advice on raising children. Let me know if you have anything good. Thanks!

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Pick your battles.

We have no conscious memory of anything prior to age two.

It's okay to not like your children sometimes. You just have to ALWAYS love them.

Sometimes it is just fine to answer all the "why?" questions with "because I said so." Everything isn't up for negotiation.

They do grow up. Really.

Your revenge will be in buying obnoxious toys for the grandchildren.

Have fun!!!!

Always remember you are learning as you go. Babies don't come with instruction manuals so you will make mistakes along the way. There are no perfect parents and your child will get mad at you often over the course of it's life because you are just so mean. Set rules and boundries for your children and let them learn the consequences of not following them but do it with a loving and supportive view. Always listen to your child and let them know you will be there no matter what and your love is unconditional. They will be their own person and wanting them to be the next linebacker or famous model might not be their dream is fine but allow them to decide what path they will follow and support them on the journey. The best advice is to love your child, cherish it and see what a miracle it is, laugh with it, play with it and be there even when they want independace and it has to be from a distance.

Never judge a book by it's cover, the most angelic of children are capable of the most horrific accidents.

"Oops!" is code for bring a towel mom.

"Uh-Oh" is code for you better come quick.

Love really does conquer all.

No matter how bad it seems....it could ALWAYS be worse!

I agree with consistancy is key. Also children need to play at home and in a park...not in a dr's office or super market.

Listen to what your child says. Show interest in what they like, even if it isn't something YOU like, like a sport, or type of music, or a hobby.
