Garlic powder / onion powder are both a dried version of the root (garlic or onion) that has been ground up. Garlic salt / onion salt, on the other hand, are salt that is flavored like garlic or onion; in general, the garlic powder / onion powder will have a stronger garlic / onion taste. The salt, will have a distinct garlic / onion taste (plenty strong), but also taste like normal table salt. And, while you can really use garlic salt / onion salt on foods already prepared, garlic powder and onion powder are really too strong to use except as small components in recipes.

Garlic and onion powder are just a base. It is the simple taste of garlic and onion. Garlic and Onion salt are more saltier and they are beater seasonings to bring out the flavor in a food.

Only the texture and appearance because seasoning powder is just crushed salt with more of the garlic or onion -- LoL

Garlic/onion powder is just that: dried & powdered garlic or onion.
Garlic/onion salt is the same, except it contains salt.

Garlic or onion powder is just the spice. Garlic or onion salt is salt with onion or garlic "juice."
While there are people who cannot taste salt, it is rare enough that I can't believe you can't taste the difference. Neither garlic nor onion is salty on it own.

Garlic/onion powder is powdered, dried garlic or onion. Garlic/onion salt has salt added.
I typically purchase the powder but not the salt. I already own salt ;~)

Garlic and onion powder aren't supposed to have salt added to them, hence no or low sodium levels. I can tell a difference.

No. . . Salt contains powder AND regular salt mixed in. Usually if you are using something that calls for powder and all you have is salt, just omit the rest of the salt from the recipe.
