I'm not talking about Accepting "Jaysus"(that's what the TV evangelists call him LOL) as a savior, I just think he was a caring man and when he said that he will live forever he was talking about his legacy.

I think it is in the delivery, don't you? I like to talk about religion(s), all of them, but as you say, people either try to convert you or get defensive. Jesus was a caring man, yes. Jesus was talking about His legacy, yes. The question is; is He the Son of God? It was considered blasphemy by the Sanhedrin and one of the reasons he died on the cross.

Christians get confused.
We were never told that it is our solemn duty to force everyone we meet to "accept Jaysus", nor were we ever told that we'd get some sort of prize for the Christian with the most conversions.
All we're supposed to do is to tell people what we believe and why. He'll do the rest. If we can, we ought to be available for questioning, but if we can't, He's got plenty of other kids He can call on for the job.
Sometimes it is difficult when someone we truly love and respect stubbornly refuses our message. Given that most Christians believe in an eternal torture pit, the situation seems really dire. That could be why we can be so--ah--annoying.
To anyone I've annoyed--come see me after the Judgment, and I'll apologize.
Promise.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that when people talk about their religion in a manner that states that if others do not accept their way as the only way, it tends to make people assume they are trying to convert them...

Other than that, I don't assume anybody is trying to convert me when they talk about their religion.

i assume because most super religious people do nothing but talk about their religion. if they hear thatyoure an athist or of anotrher religion their natural instinct is to pass the "good news". or as i like to say it "infect" us with your "disease".
