I did go back and look..and you were obviously deeply affected. Your intellect can tell you it doesn't matter; but the emotional is another matter. You still haven't worked it all out yet. Part of maturity is in gaining an acceptance of our parents for who they are...and then shaping our own lives from those experiences.
You can love them...from a distance...as they are still your parents and there is nothing you can do to alter this. We aren't our parents...but only a reflection of them...and we have to separate the negative from the positive. When you begin to define yourself as a person; you also gain an understanding of who you are and where you came from...and then you go on from there.

They haven't done anything that bad to me. More or less the usual stuff. l love them both very much. The only thing that really gets on my nerves is school. I was under the impression, for years, that my parents had a college fund set up for me. Turns out that's not the case. I used to ask them all the time when I was a kid, and they always said they had one. Not really sure why they lied to me. Oh well, that's what student loans are for. Way I see it, if that's the biggest gripe I got, I'm sitting pretty damn good. And I really do love both my parents a lot. Besides, I've put them through a hell of alot worse than they have me.

I do. My parents loved me though. If you read my question, I was spanked until I was 17, and I know it was because they love me. "What they've put you through" sounds a lot like something a young teen/preteen would say. Once you mature, you realize they were doing it because they loved you and thought it was for the best.

I love my BOTH parents so much! They are my anchor. Whenever I need help financially or otherwise, they are there for me and my sister. They pray for me and continue to guide and advise me even though I am a grown up and married. =)
Growing up, I thought they were "okay" parents, but now I am a parent myself, I see the wisdom of their ways. I love them both so much and I cannot express that enough.
Take care!

My mother has been unkind to me and said and done horrible things and I have completely cut her out of my life. I am a happy person without her negativity. No love lost here.

I love my mama and my daddy. They love me right back. I wouldn't be here without them. I have put them through just as much as they've put me through. It's called family. We are that through thick and thin. ONE LOVE!
