Doing 70 M.P.H. where the speed limit is 65 M.P.H.

I'm on the right lane of a three lane highway.

Everyone keeps passing me on the left, so I'm estimating their speed limit is 75 to 85 M.P.H.

No Police cruisers in sight or stopping anyone.

Again, what is going on?

Obviously, the majority feel that everything is good, even though everyone on the road, including me, is violating a law.

I know what your saying. People are frickin phyco. Let them pass you! Just because they have a death wish doesn't mean you do. As long as you aren't doing like 40 in a 65 then I don't think its a problem. In the end they are only going to get where they're going a couple of minutes ahead of time.

Here in Texas some speed limits aer 75! Allowing for 5 over and you must do at least 80 to keep the BMW's from trying to roto-rooter your tail pipe!

We also have a law in place that makes the left hand lane a passing lane only. All traffic must drive in the right hand lanes except for passing.

Check your tire size... a smaller diameter tire will lower your speed while indicating higher on the speedometer. Sounds like you are simply too slow for your area. The safest speed is that of the traffic.

Go with the flow. It is true that fast cars cause accidents, but so do slow cars. If you are driving severely below the average speed of the traffic, then you are a traffic hazard. People will slam on their brakes when they meet you and cause accidents, probably involving you. I think it's much safer to drive the speed of the cars around you. Same is true of going too fast. If you drive excessively faster than the traffic, then you will likely lose control avoiding other vehicles.

BOTTOM LINE: It's safer to drive with traffic, even if it's not following the posted limit.

P.S. The third lane is for trucks and slow moving vehicles, unless you are exiting, stay in the inside lanes. Nothing I hate more than a clogged up slow lane when coming up on my exit.

This is why I don't care what they think. I like to go 25 in a 30 and see how many cars I can get lined up behind me. The rat-bastards want to go as fast as they possibly can no matter what. They think a speed limit of 65 MPH means that is the MINIMUM speed.

I'm still going 30. It's fun to watch them stuck behind me flailing their arms about wildly, and you can see their mouth working so they're probably screaming. Good. Let them learn the real meaning of the speed limit.

Never mess wit a redneck.

everyone likes to drive fast nowadays. at least you are not on the left, or you will see lots of angry drivers flipping you off and cutting in front of you. it doesnt really matter what the speed limit is, you just have to keep up with the traffic flows. some police officers dont really monitor driving speeds, unless they are pulled over on the side of the freeway.

The police are all busy stopping Chamillionaire... trying to catch him ridin' dirty. Seriously dude, the police are NEVER around when everyone else is breaking the law....BUT, let your signal or break light be out (on a day when they are working the local neighborhood), you will surely find yourself with a big fat ticket. Not fair... I know.

well first of all, im leading the pack of cars that are passing you and im going on average 80-85, thats whats happening. Ya thats about how fast i drive normally. Its not that i am in a hurry, or that i like to go that fast..(maybe i do) but its just that my dad when i was a kid, always was in a hurry and always spead around..so i get it from him, and he still drives fast. i remember one time he asked "do you boys want to see 110mph" and i was like, your really gonna do that, wooowwee, and then he just stuck his finger out and pointed at the 110 mark...ya i know...cheesy joke.

Your in the right lane, for one thing. Are you afraid you'll get lost if you move over?
