This morning I woke up with an itchy welt on the back of my leg. It's about two or three times the size of a mosquito bite, so I know it's not that. It has no puss and it's not scabby, nor does it burn. It's just red and it itches. Could it be some sort of spider bite? What over the counter creme would anyone suggest?

Its a spider bite most likely. They usually happen at night and they dont puss that I have seen. Try to find cymilium, buy some online if you cant find it, it works for any kind of bite or sting from incects and water animals. You dont even need to know what its from, works great for itching and pain. For now I think there is a benydryl that you can put on the skin and also there is a pill for sure. For a quick fix you can mix baking soda and a lil water and make a paste and put that on, ive heard this helps itching.

Buy hedgeapples to keep spiders away. Look em up online for info about em.

Angioedema

Alternative Names:

Angioneurotic edema; Welts
Treatment:

Mild symptoms may not need treatment. Moderate to severe symptoms may need treatment. Breathing difficult or stridor is an emergency condition.

Cool compresses or soaks can provide pain relief.

Medications include

antihistamines
adrenaline (epinephrine)
terbutaline (a bronchodilator)
cimetidine (Tagamet)
corticosteroids
sedatives
tranquilizers
If the person has trouble breathing, seek immediate medical help. (See breathing difficulties - first aid. )

At the hospital, a tube may be placed in the throat to keep the airway open.

Expectations (prognosis):

Angioedema that does not affect the breathing may be uncomfortable, but is usually harmless and goes away in a few days.

Complications:

Life-threatening airway obstruction (if swelling occurs in the throat)
Anaphylactic reaction

try an anti-histamine. thats going to reduce the itchiness. there are alot of over-the-counter ones that are inexpensive. if it doesnt go away after 3 or 4 days, i would suggest going to the doctor to get it checked out.
