I heard that he was black, brown or white. Someone as famous as Jesus surely would have been accurately described. When I took a tour of the Morman grounds just about everybody was white in the portraits of people from the middle-east at the time of Christ. Is it just me being skeptical?

How could there have been a portrait of a guy whom no one important knew or cared about? Even if Pilate had had some sort of "death mask" done of him, it would have served to immortalize someone he sorely wished forgotten. I think we have so many different ideas of what Jesus looked like because, contrary to what the Bible says, we create our god(s) in our own image. If you're white, you may imagine the Father as an old man with a flowing white beard and ferocious eyes. If you're Asian, you may be more comfortable with a frail grandfather type with a walking stick... Sorry about the sweeping racial generalizations, blame my WASP upbringing.;)

Paintings, even portraits are interpretations from the artist's point of view. Often people have painted Jesus and his followers as if they were a part of the artist's culture, rather than as an historical representation. Jesus and all of his first followers were Jews and would have had a middle-eastern appearance (of course there is some variation there too--not all middle-easterners look the same).

I once viewed a young Japanese woman's art. She painted a beautiful portrayal of Jesus with slanted eyes and pale skin--probably not how Jesus really looked--but traditionally we give an artist some room for interpretation. I don't believe she was trying to be deceptive.

He was Jewish, middle east, where Israel is.
There are no authenicated portraits of Jesus.
The reason being, we would worship the image.
People will make Him look however they want, white, black but that is only our limited minds.

People think and portray Christ in art the way they see him. I think that is why there are no actual paintings of him. Because if there were then for some people it would "confirm" that they are better then everyone else and try to exclude people from the Word because they are "less then"

No, they used to take "Thou shalt make no graven image" Litterally. Even Ceaser did not post his image in Judea for fear of inciting the jews.

the only thing that would come close (If it is authentic) would be the Shroud of Turin, which is supposed to be the shroud which Christ was Buried in.

No...nor are there any writings of Jesus. Nor are there any artifacts/souveniers from his career as a carpenter. Nor is there any credible evidence that he actually existed, at all... which kind of makes sense, because the entire deal is a fabrication.

No, I happen to believe that he was middle-eastern looking, or black... I refuse to believe he was white and I think this is just another lie spread by the christian churches. I do know that in the bible it says he is "olive-skinned" why then do people believe he was white? beats me.

Lol, white jesus.

Why would there be any portraits of Jesus when there is VERY LITTLE EVIDENCE OF A HISTORICAL JESUS NEVER MIND A DIVINE ONE.

No.
Jesus was a Jew.
Jesus was not very good-looking, according to the Bible. I just can't remember where that verse is.
Of course, what he looked like ISNT as important as who He IS.
