Why do the moslems and christians keep fighting?

Question

is it because both religions actually have a lot in common, both in their teachings, practices and in their roots...
or is it mostly geographical...
or is it the burdens of history which both faiths seem unable to shrug off...
or is it something else..

That question is as old as the religions. Humans have always had a desire to be "right," about whatever it is they are talking, arguing or fighting about. You know how it is 'somebody," has to always be right, whether its about thousands of years old religions, or, what's better, Coke or Pepsi! Human nature!

Christians attacked Muslims first. Followers of Islam were happy to convert the pagans in Arabia, and let Jews and Christians alone. When Muslims got tired of being harrased when visiting holy sites in Jerusalem is when stuff got out of joint. Muslims took over Jerusalem, Christians tried to rescue it... It was a matter of "If you don't let me play my way, NO ONE can have the ball!" Kinda stupid, really... It continues the way a family feud goes on and on. After a while the fighting is less about truth or fairness or even territory, and becomes a sort of tradition. Why do American northerners and southerners make jokes about each other? Who knows...

Well, it's a fact of life that in MOST Western nations Muslims can set up Mosques and worship as freely as Jews who set up Synnagoges.

Now, try setting up Christian Church or -- even worse -- a Jewish Synnagoge in say, Syria or Iran.

This is the origin of the fighting. We tolerate them, but they don't tolerate us!

You ever seen a Arab Army or Police line up around a Cathoic Church in some Middle Eastern country, like Lebbanon, there to protect them from any Muslims!

You'll watch American police and soliders die when someone tries to stone a Mosque in America! American's will shoot Americans who try to deface or destroy a Mosque by force.

It is our way.

Actually, it is mostly the Muslims and the JEWS, not the Christians, who "keep fighting". The minority Christians in Jerusalem, Palestine, Egypt, Iraq, etc are mostly nonviolent and quiet people caught in the crossfire between their warring neighbors. Precisely one of the big reasons that their numbers are dwindling.

If, however, by Christians you mean American Christians I have sad news for you. For the most part the American Christians are not actually such. Christianity for the conservative right is part of their propaganda package used to rouse and inspire the folks of the Bible-belt, who of course happen to be the main support for the current administration and its "war on Arabs... er.. I mean... war on terror"

I don't know what you are talking about....I have muslim friends and aquaintances and we have NEVER fought, verbally or physically. I think the media is hyping it all up. As for what you see on tv, that is footage taken from rare instances of extreemist groups. Christian and Muslims have co-exsisted for centuries in Jerusalem along side Jews. So I think your accuasation is somewhat inflated.

Muslims and Christians keep fighting because Muslims attacked the Christians. the fighting will stop when the Muslims stop attacking Christians.

The christians that are fighting the muslims is a political group not the one that goes to a bible church on sundays.
