Though women do watch pornography, the majority of pornographic material is purchased by heterosexual males. Heterosexual males watch porn, and show an interest in the women. As the women are what keeps the business booming, they are paid more than the males because they are more necessary than the males. If you watch porn, you have probably noticed that several scenes do not even include men, so the men are seen as expendable. Women often choose with whom they would like to do a scene with, and the men do not have that option. However, it is a job, so the men does receive compensation, though it is not as nearly as much as the women.

What many men do in this industry, regardless of sexual orientation, is flock to the gay male pornography, where they are paid several times more than in the straight porn industry. However, it is still not as much as the women of the straight porn industry. I'm not sure, but I think it is more difficult to break into the gay porn industry because the gay porn industry expects substantially more, in terms of looks, beauty, and physicality, than that of the straight porn industry.

So, it is a bit of a trade-on. If you want more money, and you have what it takes to do gay porn, I would recommend that route. If not, male porn stars should stay in straight porn.

Women - Economically exploited is not a term I would have thought to use when describing porn stars. I always thought they made a lot of money. For a few scenes they are paid thousands of dollars. It could be due to that there is no demand for guys naked on television, internet, or other media.

As you know guys are more likely to pay and do "whatever" just for a little bit of pleasure regardless of how it is perceived. When women are more into the inner side, they'd rather spend money on going shopping than pornography. Also (I dont watch porno) I've noticed the few times I have tuned to Playboy, i've noticed that they never show guys "their package" they are always showing the girls (sad) and not guy, there is no channel such as "play girl", maybe the only porno guys that get paid well would be the gay porno.

In fact, many male porn stars do quite well for themselves. The women are paid more because they have to do things the men are not required to do. Also, the women are often expected to perform with more than one man in a video/film.

Have you seen most the guys in porn. They are quite often UGLY and not exactly well endowed. However, they get to have sex with a lot of women way out of their league. AND get paid for it. I doubt too many of them feel they are getting the short end of the stick.
