tabacco wasn't really popular until the 1600's and I think the concept of cigerettes did not exist when the Bible was being written 2000-3000 yrs ago. So no mention of smokes but I know when Moses came down from the mountain with the commandments the ppl were worshipping false idols and gambling. I think it was the false idols that got God though, not so much the gambling.

doesn't mention smoking specifically, but does say our bodies are temples and we should treat them with respect. Would you smoke while talking to Jesus? I used to smoke, smoked from 14 years to 55 years. My friend used to say "if Jesus comes, would you want a cigarette hanging out of your mouth?" I never really tried to quit because I like to smoke. Then all of a sudden I wanted to quit, don't know why, just wanted to. First I used nicorette, that worked for 4 months. Then I turned over a new leaf, and asked God to help me clean up my life. He gave me much more Grace than I asked for. I don't even have the desire to smoke, to drink, none of the stuff I use to "slip" and do. I thank Him every day because there is no way I could have quit cold turkey like that without Him taking away the desire. Ii smoked 2 packs a day and enjoyed it. Sorry this is so long. As to gambling..all I know is when I have asked why it is wrong, they say it's because the soliders gambled for Jesus's belongings while He was on the cross. In Proverbs in seeveral places it seems to say gambling is no good.

To my knowledge, smoking is not mentioned in the Bible, but gambling is. God said not to be quick to strike hands with another man or make bets, or not to be involved in usury...that is being a servant to the lender till the debt is paid. As for smoking, the Bible does say that our Body is the temple of the Holy Spirit once we are saved and we are to take care of the temple and not allow anything into that would defile our life. Of course everyone makes mistakes, so ask for forgiveness and ask the Holy Spirit to take the urges away.

no. Remember tobacco was brought from the Americas to the rest of the world not before the 16-th century AD. Smoking other things was equally unknown. But really the Bible teaches respect for one's body, a gift from the Lord; hence, even according to the Bible, you should avoid drinking, smoking etc. in excess.

Smoking is not directly mentioned in the bible though many people claim it is referred to in the verse in Genesis that says to "partake of every herb on the earth". I personally think that's pot smokers trying to justify, but hey, whatever floats your boat. As far as gambling, it is mentioned a few times in the new testament and is frowned upon.

Tobacco is a product of the Americas ... Europeans didn't have access to tobacco until the end of the 15th century.

So how do you suppose it'd be mentioned in a book written more than 1000 years prior?
