How can I politely word this?
The women I know who converted to Islam did so because they married an Islamic man.
Now I agree I don't know all women but I do not know a single woman who converted of her own free will & there was no connection to marriage.

I'm a man and I'd like to know why Islamic women don't go after us, with the publicised ideas of how badly muslim men treat them.
I can answer it myself - they believe they are healthier and far better off than non-muslim women.

i am not such myself, but i have known several women to convert to islam (some from christianity, some from secular backgrounds).
variously the women i have known to take the veil came from northern britain, italy, spain, nigeria and congo.
as to why anyone would convert to islam:- if you believe allah is god you have very little alternative.
several of your other respondents have talked as if one's religion were a lifestyle choice. i think that kind of triviality is one of the major things that puts people off christianity.

I don't get it - I mean look at all them people who have different religions and believe in different Gods. And each religion says that there is one special god then they all can't be right. Only 1 religion is right or none.

I live in Kuwait,I am Kuwaity woman born as a moslim but I always ask myself if i was not born as a moslim what religion i would choose ,and the answer is Islam ,why? because it gave me what is missed in other relegion my dignity yes Islam reserved all the rights for the women ,it gave me an ID ,it helped me to know who am I ,HOw? Islam gave the woman the right to choose her hasband ,gave her the right live in her mariage with dignity and force the husband to treat her well otherwise she have the right to ask for divorce and even after the divorce he gave her the right to ask the ex-husband to give her a place to live in ,monthly payment for her and her children the rights to have a house maid to help her and of course the right to take her children with her.on the other hand Islam reserved my dignity when asked us to wear hijab ,covering the hair and wearing long and loose cloth why? to save us from street wolves those kind of men how look at the woman as a piece of **** as an animal or as any other thing ,you have all the right to show them what you want and keep what you want for yourself and your husband .mariage was the best relation to force the man to admit that the children who come from that relation are his children and no way to deniy that .Islam is the way of life ,it is a must thet you take care of your parents ,specially the mother ,it is a must to take care of your children and to treat them well,it is a must that you take care of your nieghbours and ask about them from time to time and take care of there house when ever they leave it.it is a must to help poor people by paying Zakat it is an amount payed every year for poor people .it is a must to visit ill people and take care of them even if they aren't your relative,and of course it is a must to pray for died people and help there families during the ceramonies and after .Islam forbid
us from talking behind any one and said it is like eating there flush meat .Islam is great if understand it and if you give yourself some time to read and study more about it ,the holy Qura'an
have the most precious advices that you ever need in your life,I admit that some people who call themselves moslims gave other people a very bad image about Islam but that is not the true Islam ,it was never about killing innocent people and terrorist
Islam in arabic comes from the world salam which means peace
I like to be moslim by born or by thoughts or even by choosing ,in all the ways I like to be moslim and if you read the Qura'an you will see that it is asking us to live with the other religions as freinds and in a brotherhood .thats why I loved Islam and loved everybody who loved us not for our color or thoughts or even religion this is what I learned from Islam.I advice you if you would like to know about Islam to read more about it and study more and if you need any help I will be there dear.(nottyrahaf@yahoo.com)
