I am going to assume that you are on a good parasite prevention program. Many people believe that you worm a dog once as a pup and that is it. It isn't.

At 7 months, you should have him on a Heartworm preventative. Many of these also treat for hookworms and roundworms. I find that many "skinny" dogs have hookworm or tapeworm.

If your dog has been wormed for both hookworms & tapeworms recently. I would try feeding the dog more. I would also give the dog: mashed potatoes (no salt), white rice, lean browned hamburger or boiled chicken, scrambled eggs and low fat cottage cheese mixed into his regular food. Supplimenting his diet with wholesome "people" food can really give you a superior looking dog.

Remember, at this age all pups go through a lanky looking stage. This dog won't be full grown until 18 months.

Young male dogs, especially if they are not neutered often have a difficult time putting weight on. This has to do with how active they are and also their hormones. Neutering him will likely help him to put some weight on.

Also, make sure you are feeding a high quality food with a high fat content. Eukanuba is really high in fat. He is only 7 months so he should be on the puppy formula as well.

You can try adding things to his food to make it more enticing to him. Rather than just canned dog food, mix in a can of salmon or tuna once in awhile. He might also like raw chicken wings or chicken necks for a treat (they must be raw--no cooked meat with bones in it).

Good luck.

Have you had your puppy wormed? All puppies have worms that, if not treated, will cause real harm. The lack of proper weight gain is probably due to worms. You have to worm a puppy twice: the first time and once again 2 weeks later. Then put your puppy on good puppy food such as "Purina One Growth and Development." Don't give your puppy human food it is not as nutritious for them. My puppy was skin and bones when I first got her; I did all these things and now she is doing great weight wise.

First of all, don't overfeed him...having a pet that is overweight just because you think it looks cute is not healthy...ask the vet what is the maximum "healthy" weight for the dog and that is what you should aim for...and maybe if he's not eating too much its the food...you might need to change his diet a little...what kind of dog food are you giving him? I feed my dogs Nutro because it has no by-products...
