They don't know how to present their side because they do not have a side - they are followers, sheepish.

They do not read the bible or think for themselves. They make notes in church, underline the passages in their bible and memorize the text. Then regurgitate it on-line no matter what was asked.

People like that just seem to be around. Personally, I'm not too eager to share my interpretations of the Bible because it always seems to start an argument. But, I do run into a lot of things I don't understand, and I try to find two or three people I can trust and get their views before I make up my mind. In doing that, I have run into some folks just like you're talking about. My conclusion is that they don't understand the passage I'm asking about any better than I do and, rather than appear uninformed, "go reread it" is all they can come up with to say.

People like that fail to understand that every Christian has a different understanding of the Bible than every other Christian. Why do they think there are so many denominations--more than 30,000 of them!--all disagreeing on what the Bible says, why it says it, and how to interpret it? Thus, saying "Go read the Bible" is stupid, as it implies that everyone reading it will come to the same conclusions about it. In fact, if one reads the Bible exactly as one reads any other book, one soon realizes that it is not a single, coherent plot line, but simply a random collection of Hebrew myths, fables, hero stories and folklore. Four different authors recorded four different ways that King Saul died, two authors had two versions of creation and two flood stories, there are dozens of numerical errors, etc. Go ahead and read the Bible, it will say nothing other than anything you want it to say, and can be made to support any dogma or belief that you can conjure up. Who needs that?

well don't just read,, experience it. If you had experienced what the Bible teaches, you wouldn't have to ask this question.. what I would do is when you do read it and you get to the part that talks about Jesus dieing for your sins. Ask yourself do you believe that He did died on a cross for your sins. If the answer is yes and you believe he rose again.. YOU will be saved. and guess the bible will become real to you and you will have the interpretation right from the source. Jesus living in your heart, the word really comes alive. If you don't believe any of that I feel really bad for you. and you will just keep reading it like any other book.. my prayers are with you.

the beauty in bible reading is each verse can have different meanings each time you read it...they do that because they think they are right!

but rereading may change your mind...
arguing the bible is as bad as arguing politics....if an argument starts about either it is always in your best interest to make an excuse and leave the room

Your relationship with God is personal. Others interpretation of the bible doesn't matter. If you read with the spirit with pure intent desiring to know the truth, it will manifest. You do not have to argue about doctrine. You just need to proclaim the gospel. So study learn and bless the lives of those with what you know to be true. Avoid contention. You are entitled to your own opinion, however, all truth can be circumscribed into one whole.

Tell them that scholars, priests, bishops, philosophers and everyday people all have different interpretations of the bible and that it is impossible to determine what interpretations are absolute truths. The debates have been going on for centuries, either your friend is pure genius like the world has never known before or he is wrong....hmmm

The Bible is unquestionably not the observe of God. If God quite had to place in writing a e book Jesus might have accomplished it Himself and there could be no questions approximately it. it would additionally be an rather distinctive e book. genuine skill lies interior the palms of people who write history and create the mythos upon which a society relies. In Biblical cases this grew to become into the priesthood. They and the scribes they experienced have been the only literate contributors of society. the simplest thank you to maintain human beings (females and slaves) of their place is to assert that God ordained it that way and then produce a e book to instruct it. no rely how inspired the authors have been or by using what source, the ideas had to clear out by using their minds and personalities. The Bible grew to become into written by using adult males immersed in an historical patriarchal lifestyle. all of them had agendas, regardless of if it grew to become into protecting the social order, unifying doctrine, removing heresy or gaining converts. After analyzing it for years i've got concluded that it quite is a exceptionally clean piece of propaganda. What I do value interior the Bible is the story of Christ's existence and teachings. i think of He knew how misinterpreted and manipulated words can become and consequently lived in a manner that would desire to enable us to stay with in His footsteps inspite of what all people wrote approximately Him. The hyperlinks decrease than objectively component the origins of the Bible (a million & 2) to boot because of the fact the inconsistencies and inaccuracies (3)

I see it all of the time. I guess it's just another way of saying, "I can't logically support my own contentions so I'll play it off as if the Bible does it for me."

In other words, when someone tells you to read the Bible after you've trumped their interpretation, they are tacitly admitting defeat.

Because they figure you might see the error of your ways. It's always good to be open to the fact that you might be wrong. I mean, what if you are?

The best source to turn to when it comes to interpreting the Word of God, is God. Ask Him to open you eyes to the truth of His word and to show you where you may be in error, and ask Him to confirm to you where you are right. I do all the time. The bible is one thing we can't afford to get wrong- God is more than capable of proving His own Word to you.

TO JACK: Well, that is a little creepy...but it's your choice.
