At petco they sell an herbal skin tonic for horses and other farm animals . We use it on all of our animals and have had great success. Also feed your animals brewers yeast and garlic pills everyday. Pet stores sell them if not go to a vitamin store. For some reason fleas hate the smell that exudes from the animals skin( well we hate beer and garlic breath too.) you also can rub brewers yeast in their fur. also washing your cat in original blue dawn dish soap will kill all fleas currently on your baby. I have 5 cats and 2 dogs now and have no flea problems, they go inside and out with no bugs. Oh and the need to vacuum everywhere is essential to getting rid of a flea infestation. Remember to empty vacuum every time.(if you have bags like me a stapler is handy.)
wash all bedding used by animals inside and out. many people with dogs forget to vacuum and treat their cars as well. If it can't be washed put in dryer for 20 min.

Get one of the flea treatments recommended by your vet, like Frontline. It is important that you get it from your vet. Some on the market do not much good, and sometimes can be harmful. NEVER use flea stuff made for dogs.
Then pick up some flea bombs, again whatever your vet says, and bomb your house. Wash all pet bedding and anything else you can. Vacuum thoroughly and throw the bag away right away. As long as you follow the instructions on how often to apply the flea treatment you should have no problem. I am assuming that you keep the cat indoors. This is the only safe place for cats. You wouldn't send a 2 year old child out alone, so why would you allow an animal to roam?

Your best bet is to have an exterminator come out and treat for flea infestation in your house. Flea eggs can drop off a cats furr and hatch weeks later, reinfesting your furry friend. We had this problem in Arkansas with my mothers cats, hog fleas are HARD to kill. Keep the cat treated with FrontLine or another topical flea medication and see if you can find some pet-safe carpet flea treatment to kill the eggs, and wash everything fabric in your house that you can. It's almost like you're treating your house for lice when you're trying to get rid of fleas.

Ask your vet first, but I believe I remember hydrocortizone cream such being safe to use on pets, but PLEASE ask your vet first as I could very well be wrong.

Is this shot a steroid for the inflamed skin?? This is peak flea season right now, my cat has a flea allergy, and we use either Frontline or Advantage on her and she does great with it, its a once a month application, and we use it about 4 months, during the summer months!
