Shortness of breath, dizziness, dependance upon drug, shakiness, etc...
It's a form of amphetamine (Speed). Not good for you but I guess having a heart attack from clogged arteries isn't too good for you either.

Your doctor should have talked to you about the medication when it was prescribed. You should talk to your pharmacist when you get your prescription filled. A little looking around the internet provides a bunch of sites trying to sell it to you, but I tend to take them with a grain of salt.
Here is some stuff that I found. The first quote is from a US government site. The second is from an online pharmacy that does not sell the stuff. The third is from a publicly edited site. I hope this helps.
Quoting from MedilinePlus:
Although side effects from phentermine are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
* dry mouth
* unpleasant taste
* diarrhea
* constipation
* vomiting
Quoting from RiverPharmacy:
Short-term side effects of these medications may include nervousness, nausea and vomiting, a bad taste in your mouth, unpleasant changes to bowl movements (diarrhea or constipation), increased heart rate and/or blood pressure, changes in sleep patterns (insomnia), palpitations, minor burry vision, and others.
Quoting Wikipedia:
Generally, phentermine appears to be relatively well tolerated. It can produce side effects consistent with its catecholaminereleasing properties, e.g., tachycardia, increased alertness, but the incidence and magnitude of these appear to be less than with the amphetamines. Because phentermine acts through sympathomimetic pathways, the drug may increase blood pressure and heart rate.

Phentermine is a stimulant... it was part of the combo in "Phen-Phen" the miracle weightloss drug.
It is a derivadive of amphetimine in the same family as aphedra - etc.
It is a great apetite suppressant and will give you a lot of energy... expect to feel wired and have some difficulty sleeping at night (common side effect). I would only take it for brief periods of time, because as with all stimulants it effects your CNS (central nervous system) and you dont want to spend too much time messing with that.
Also, make sure you take it as directed - stimulants work rather well when taken as directed. otherwise you get a pounding heart, insomnia, dry mouth, paranoia, etc.
hope that helps...

I was prescribed 37.5 milligrams and it definitely suppresses your appetite. But it made me extremely thirsty and irritable. And it took me forever to go to sleep at night. Everyone's different though, so good luck. If you take them properly, you WILL lose weight.
