I posted a question that was proposed a clear compromise for those Christians who oppose gay marriage with the argument of people wanting to marry their snake, inanimate objects, or polygamy coming next.

If you ask a question in this forum about gay marriage, you'll get 5-10 responses from some Christians declaring that polygamy, marrying pets and inanimate objects, and pedophilia will be certain to follow if gay marriage is legalised. However, when you post a clear compromise and alternative that would keep that from happening, none of those individuals seem to have an opinion or an answer for you.

Why do you think that is? And do you find it as hilarious as I do?

Jerry H - I've seen the story in the Bible of Sodom and Gomorrah; not sure about Sodom and Gomora. Is that a different one, or are you just repeating what you heard?

Wait a sec Jerry H - I thought that the OT didn't apply any longer and that God was all good now and that he does hate anyone.... So, where are you coming up with that crap??

Truth is, when you give a clear, concise, intelligent argument, Christians run and hide and do not respond because they have nothing intelligent to respond with other than scripture and faith. And that's not intelligent either! Unfortunately, I do not find it has laughable as you - I find it disturbing that there are that many people in this world, and I find it pathetic that they cannot form their own intelligent arguements. Sad really....

And to dze... You are afraid of what your children will learn in schools??? You should be afraid that your govt is giving money away only to programs that teach abstinence rather than teaching safe sex. You should be afraid that 17 different abortion clinics recently surveyed provided FALSE information to people posing as teenage girls, informing them that abortion leads to a greater risk in breast cancer and depression.... THIS is what YOUR RELIGION is teaching kids today.....and that is FAR SCARIER than children learning that love is okay no matter who you are.

First I don't consider myself a Christian but a Believer. Second, if gays want to marry I have no problem with it. I think that gays should be just as happy as straights and as polygamorous families. I think that most Christians don't want to answer these questions because they don't want to face their faith and see the the Messiah loved everyone no matter what and that they should do the same. And if they say that being gay is wrong then they have to say gay marriage is wrong and then they have to say I don't love everyone the way I am supposed to. I'm not sure what your previous post was but I would have answered any question you had or have to the best of my personal knowledge.

i could quite prefer to work out an substantial majority of mainstream Islam instructors strongly condemn violence. the place are their religious leaders forcefully affirming that the 9-11 terrorists and faculty bombers are in hell? The absence of that makes me infer that that's a faith vulnerable to violence. some (many?) Moslem international locations have swords of their flags, representing conversion via the sword. it must be a minority of Moslems who're violent, yet my effect is that this is no longer a tiny minority on the far fringes. I rather could speculate that the proportion of Christians who're violent is a lot, lots smaller ... and condemned via ninety 9%+ of Christian leaders. Violent Christians are going against the training of their founder (even however Christians are comfortable with self protection and the goverment resisting enemies). Jesus, Paul, James, and Peter (between others) particularly taught that our good habit could impression human beings to evaluate finding into what Christians have faith. we are recommended to be good ambassadors for Jesus, it quite is a huge project.

I am sorry to hear of your troubles. I feel that some Christians are so caught up about keeping things "holy" that they ignore their inner problems. And knowing that they can't win, they will go into hiding to read their bibles trying to come up with something. They should just stop judging others and focus on peace in society. BTW someone posted something that said "God Hates you" I would like to tell this person that the words "G-d" and "hate" do not belong together! This just make Christians look like self righteous freaks! My theory is if they don't like it, look away.

Well, from a legal standpoint, I can see where someone might argue that legalized polygamy and bestiality might follow gay marriage legalization. However, those are terrible reasons not to legalize gay marriage!

An excellent reason not to legalize it is because its morally wrong. Yes, there are absolutes in this universe. The absolute that homosexuality is wrong is one of them. Choosing to disagree with absolutes does not remove them. It just causes one to live unrealistically. People are free to disagree with God. That just happens to be a really bad idea.

As long as there are people, sin, and an earth, folks are going to disagree on homosexuality. God disagrees with it, and I'd rather be on His side.

I don't quite understand what you are actually saying but, holy matrimony, the union between a man and a wife (that is why it is called HOLY) cannot be practiced in any other situation...that is with homosexuals or with people marrying pets or objects. God created the marriage relationship for a husband and wife...why do anything that goes against it?

there are no compromises to gayness. God hates it you fool! He destroyed an entire city practicing it. Ever heard the story in the Bible of Sodom and Gomora?

***I may have spelt it wrongly

Ya I know I have asked questions that people still stand on 1 verse or say that its wrong and then thats it. I have asked questions that I was sure a lot of people would respond to but a few did.
