Here is the regimen that I use when my hair gets extremely dry in winter and summer:

Once or twice a week:

Massage a dollop of mayonnaise into your hair and leave it on for one hour OR comb olive oil through your hair with a wide tooth comb and leave on all night (shampooing it out in the morning).

Shampoo (choose a shampoo for dry, damaged hair. I use Pantene Pro-V.)

Condition your hair and leave conditioner on for 5 minutes (after I put conditioner on, I pull my hair back with a scrunchie while I wash the rest of my body…this takes 5 minutes or longer. I also use Pantene Pro-V conditioner).

Towel dry (do not blow dry unless you HAVE to, it will make dry hair even dryer!). Apply a dab of VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing from about the middle of your hair to the tips. Do not apply it to the roots or your hair will look greasy. (It comes in a tube. The box it is packaged in is gold colored).

Style as usual.

For the rest of the week:

Use the VO5 just on the VERY ENDS of your hair….every morning before styling.

I don't know much about dealing with dry hair and whatnot, but I use Nature's Gate Organic Shampoo and it seems to work really well. I like it because it's completely natural and I'm of the opinion that natural is always best. It's worth trying at least - you can find it online at Amazon.com and other places too.
