since prophecy does not specifically cite the united states as being a major player in the end times, one can assume with good reason that our nation could become secondary player in the final day's leading up to the tribulation.it might be possible a devastating event might remove the u.s. from the world stage. for example, with the total national debt of $7.4trillion and a trade deficit of roughly$500 billion for 2004 the american ecomony could explode from it's own excess. do you think this is true?

I think it's very possible that excess or lack or morality could be why the U.S. does not play a specific role in the end times. Perhaps we are even wiped off the face of the map before those final days. We think we're the center of the universe, but we clearly are not.

I totally agree with you. I think something will keep the U.S. from becoming a major influence near the rapture. I'm not sure whether the economy will collapse or what but I'm certain that something of that nature is bound to happen.

And how exciting are the world events right now in relation to the end times described in the Bible? Major players are arising in the news such as Italy, Israel, Iran, Asyria, Germany, and Iran. The rapture seems like it could be very soon.

No. The "final days" interpretation of the Bible is an 1800's interpretation of a text that was originally written to give hope to a group of people who lived thousands of years ago. Because of it's vagueness, you can interpret it whatever way you'd like and have no way to verify it. Same as all prophecies. Just like has happened before, the time for the End Times to come will come and go with nothing spectacular and Believers(tm) will update their interpretations to reflect a new End Times.

Here's another line of thought:
Bible prophecy centers around the Middle East, especially Israel. But, the US is never mentioned in Bible Prophecy! Scary, thought, isn't it? Alot of debate going on amongst Christian scholars, but no one has a reason, or excuse or explanation for this.
