my pup was poisoned by some flea spray, and yes i took it to two vets, who said since we didn't catch the problem right away, there wasn't anything besides waiting it out that could be done. (he has some other health problems that were being treated with antibiotics and other meds that we thought were the cause of the spells he is having) it was several days later when we realized exactly what it is. so as far as waiting it out. anyone had any experience. he seems better and the vet said it would take a week for the poison to leave him, it's been 5 days, and he's still having spells, but they are less severe. thanks for the input

Sounds like he may be ok .. I lost a cat to Hartz products a couple of years ago. It happens often and Hartz is well aware of it there is simply no government regulations or anything on these types of products.

Hartz kills pets, not fleas.

I almost lost a cat to Zodiak monthly flea treatment. He started convulsing and I was able to take him to the emergency vet clinic. After $300+ and 4 days he was fine, but it was touch and go there for awhile. I wrote the company, especially when the vet told me the day before a woman had lost all three of her cats to the same product, but they never responded. I always tell people to only use flea products that you can get at the vets office. They may seem more expensive, but you know your animal will be safe

There's a poison control # for animals, I don't have it here but you should always have it on hand.

If you suspect a topical poison then immediately wash off the spray, hose the dog down and use a shampoo not that's NOT for fleas.

Always read the direction on flea sprays and shampoos as they state not to use on puppies under age _____ never use a spray or powder more frequently then suggested by the manufacturer, this too can be toxic to puppies and dogs, especially older dogs.

You should be able to on the internet or dial 800 information for animal poision control!
