It's not a good idea to ask him to call you more. You may end up just pushing him away. You need to let him be in charge and chase you. Below is a forum that you can visit to learn more about this. You would be more attractive if you were harder to get a hold of.
Do you really like him?
Are you just getting off on the challenge of trying to make him like you?
Could you think of 10 things you like about him (other than looks/things he has)?
Sounds like your relationship is causing you too much anxiety. It is not healthy, and should not be misteken for love. There is no anxiety in love. You know someone loves you when you are confident about how they feel about you.
Forgive him for his shortcomings (he just can't help it). Move on.
Don't limit yourself to this misery. Live life and enjoy it!

Some guys just don't call. As long as he calls you sometimes. Don't worry about it. Maybe later he will start calling more. In my experience alot of guys just don't want to call you to chat, they aren't like us girls. Some are.
