Today is my birthday, but when I looked into the bathroom mirror this morning I didn't see the man I am but the boy I wish to be. I think aging is often about perception. On my daily run this afternoon, a young woman in a car called out to me for directions. She said, "Excuse me, sir, can you tell me how to get to Wadsworth?" I ran alongside her for a while and told her what she had to do to get where she wanted to go. As she sped away I thought, did she call me "sir" simply to be polite or because she perceived me to be so much older than she is. I'm a kid at heart and I think it's that attitude that keeps me young. I don't think I look my age but I sometimes wonder how old people, especially young people, think I am.

Well, that is very interesting. I get called mam' all the time, and I'm 20. For the most part I use it to be polite, not because I view that person as old. It is a respect issue. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

You are definitely not alone in how you feel! I can't believe that there is another person out there that feels like I do . I HATE to be called "ma am". It's like a knife cutting my heart, cuz I just don't feel as old as some think I am I guess. I do recall being younger though and thinking that 30 was old...but I guess that all changes as we get older. To me, not 70 is old. Perhaps 70 won't be so old when I get there! I often wonder to myself the same question. I see people that I went to school with & I think that they have all gotten so old & fat. Then I think that I wonder if that's what they think when they see me??lol...I guess they probably do, but I guess I just don't care that much about what others think. I'm still hot damn it!...

Why on earth would you want to be a "boy". Most REAL WOMEN, want a mature, intelligent man. I'm from Va. We say Sir, out of respect. As a woman, when look in the mirror, how I feel usually depends on what I'm wearing:-) Just for the record, I'm in my early 50's, so I've been where you are...Birthdays can be depressing...just stop having them:-)

Depends if I'm smiling or not. I seems older if I have a neutral face on. A twinkle in my eye reminds me that I believe I'm only 27, still.
