I am an Atheist. So many christians say they pray for me, they don't want to see me go to hell, they want to save me, etc. This is silly to me (for some reason they can not grasp the fact that I don't believe in god, heaven, hell, prayer, etc.) but I appreciate that they care, I guess. But my question is, shouldn't they be praying for and trying to save there own first. There are christians who judge, belittle, call names and otherwise act very un-christian like. Some of the closed-minded bigots that call themselves christian make me sick. Maybe christians should work on saving themselves before they work on saving me?

And I know there are some Atheist who are mean and rude to others, I am not one of them. Everyone should be able to believe in what they want, without being told they are wrong, bad people or going to hell.

We pray for you because we realize the here after and what you will be missing. We pray for you because it is within our compassion for a child of God to do so. We pray for you that you will see all that you are blind to. We pray for you because in your ignorance Satan is ruling your life. We pray for you so that when our time comes we won't be asked "Why didn't you pray for ALL my children!" I don't preach or try to save, I realize that one way or another, if He wants you, Jesus will get you!

"Why do Christians worry about me?"

I don't know. Do you give them cause?

"I am an Atheist."

And you feel that puts you so far beyond the Pale that no one should worry about you?

"So many christians say they pray for me, they don't want to see me go to hell, they want to save me, etc. This is silly to me (for some reason they can not grasp the fact that I don't believe in god, heaven, hell, prayer, etc.) but I appreciate that they care, I guess."

I am afraid you have totally lost me here. You might not believe that red hot stoves can burn but does that make them any less dangerous?

"But my question is, shouldn't they be praying for and trying to save there own first."

How do you know they are not?

"There are christians who judge, belittle, call names and otherwise act very un-christian like. Some of the closed-minded bigots that call themselves christian make me sick. Maybe christians should work on saving themselves before they work on saving me?"

Christ said something similar. He taught that his disciples should remove the log in their own eyes before trying to remove a speck of dust from someone else's eye.

"Everyone should be able to believe in what they want, without being told they are wrong, bad people or going to hell."

Why? If you thought Berlin was the capital of France, is it wrong for me to point out that you are wrong?

Christians tell you because they care about you. As far as Christians are concerned, we believe that if you don't believe in Jesus and accept him as your personal savior, then you won't go to Heaven. Just because you don't believe it, doesn't mean it isn't so. As far as saving other Christians, we want them to all act in a way that makes others understand that we love them, even if we don't agree with them. God doesn't set a limit on how many people we can pray for, so why not pray for you AND all the Christians? Sorry you don't like it, but maybe someday you'll realize that we all just care.

if you are a human being then you must realize that you were not created from mere sheer luck. there is a higher being, this is when you must step in "Faith", since you are amoung the ones who do not belive in God Heaven or Hell. then ask yourself who wakes you up in the morning? if you think that you alone have that power to do it then i will pray deeply for you are a lost soul. you need to understand that God is real! god tells us that you will die 1 day. and if you belive in his divine power or not. God will judge you, tell me when a love one dies, do you cry? if so why? that is a natural feeling that God gave us. just because you are an atheist dont mean you will go to hell. it will be a 99.9% that you are. but the big picture is that you are able to breath the air only because GOD allows you too. i will pray for youre soul, you were taught by some dummy what an atheist is. you was not born to know about such a religion. but God says to tell everyone who has ears to listen, and to tell people who do not belive in God what God has done for them. so here goese, im a 33 year old woman and if it was not for God i would be dead!!!!! God says that life is just a test. like a stepping stone, you know that there will be a holy war when God comes? who side do you realy want to be on? you so desparetly need Jesus in your life. i will pray for you. answer me back so we can talk and you can express yourself a little bit more. tell me what drove you not to belive?

They don't know the difference between a unbeliever and profound atheist. Period. They are dumb, to put it correctly. Yes, DUMB, even in the eyes of God Himself.

A Scriptural Christian would not give you the time of day. Let alone bug ya. Thats why God gave you a brain. If you want to know, you will bug a Christian.

When your a profound atheist. I don't worry about you, not at all. You have me confused with someone.

In fact, Jesus Christ Himself, tells me to walk away from you and leave you alone.

To answer your question.

I have not a clue why any Christain claims to be a Christian and doing exactly what Jesus tells them NOT to do.

I guesss they think Jesus passed the Baton* to them and had them fill up the gap He couldn't. right?

Jesus didn't..He didn't do it for a reason. but a Christian can do something Jesus couldn't? snickerrrrrrrrrrr

Nobody should force their beliefs on you, but the Bible does instruct Christians to spread the gospel. They are only doing their Christiam duty. As for the Christians you meet that you think act in an unchristian way, remember that they are human too. The Bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and that no one is perfect; only Jesus was. So yes, they might not be acting the way they should be but there is a law of sin that lives within all of us because we are human. No this is not an excuse, but it is a reason that people don't act the way they should. Repentance and forgiveness are wonderful gifts from God.

True belief in God, requires love of humanity and thus all things created. Thus these people care for your well being (in this context in a narrow minded way), before and after death. Do not begrudge them that. In their eyes, you need to be saved, they may be wrong or right in that, doesn't matter. Just take this away from those encounters, at a certain level they wish you well and you will find that you will need all the good wishes you can get in your lifetime. Follow your own path and be at peace with your choice.

I suppose these Christians want to try and "help" as many people as they can who, in their eyes, have turned away from God, to try and turn Atheists back to some form of Christianity. Maybe in the process, they think they'll get in good with God in the process.

I don't really have a good answer for this, as a lot of it is conjecture. I was brought up differently, in that no one got slammed for what they did or did not believe, with regards to belonging to an organized religion or no.

Look a christian who prays for you knows he is in the right path and prays to god to forgive them there sins and has no sins so the worry about you, because hell is a place where you will spend the rest of your life and have demons by your side torturing you night and day you won't get rest from the torture. You will be there all eternity unless you accept Jesus as your savior and Ask him to forgive all your sins. Christians want the best for you and god does too.

For one, I'm commanded to love others. Meaning care. As a Christian I do pray for my fellow believers, because you are correct a lot of them (including me) need a lot of help.

My daughter has an Atheist friend, she prays for her because she truely cares for her and hopes she does become a believer. I am glad that you aren't rude and that you do appreciate that they care.

And remember, those who point a finger at another have 3 pointing back at themselves.
