My boyfriend chose her over me when we were just "casually dating." I told him I loved him and 5 days later he stood me up to go be with her. It's a long story.... He has been perfect to me for the past 8 months and says he is truly committed to me and that his ex means nothing to him. I, however, am haunted by the painful memories and can't seem to let it go. Any advice....???

It takes a lot of time to trust again after the trust has been broken. If you have paranoid tendenacies after what happens it will continue to cause you pain. You need to decide if he is worth that pain, if you think he will not cause you any more pain, and if you can see yourself happy with him. If not, its an awful lot of workl.

If he's truly committed to you for that long, I doubt it'd happen again but you never know. You need to let go of the past, it's gone for a reason. If you keep dwelling on it, it is going to only cause problems in the relationship.

Whenever there is mistrust in a relationship, it usually results from unexplained events from the past.

Best way to deal with this is to confront him with all of your concerns and issues upfront. Both of you need to discuss everything first, so that you can move on with your life. Otherwise, you will distrust the next innocent person and that isn't fair to them or yourself.

"not me" is right.

Get over it now or your imagination will control you.

Do you want to enjoy the relationship now? Then quit worrying about the past. you can't change it.

Don't like that solutions? Then break up now, and be done with it.

Trust your boyfriend. he is with you for a reason (love?) he is not with her. try to get over it, don't obsess, it will strain your relationship. good luck.

On a side note, I'm with a guy who has been married before and sometimes I find myself thinking about his ex. So you're not alone. But he love me and I'm happy.

Girls think way way way too much. Get over it, enjoy life and enjoy your man. Remember though hes a man and by definition we're pigs. Women are from Venus, Men from Mars.

JUST ENJOY LIFE!!
