American sign language is not the same signing that is used in Other countries. Perhaps the people leading the trip can be of assistance in determining theirs.

To learn Spanish try "Rocket Spanish."

Good course and less expensive than most.

For a less expensive approach try taking it at school. If you have any spanish speakers at school, most do these days, get to know them if possible and maybe they can help you also.

You may be able to raise the funding support through your own church. Talk to the pastor and the leaders of the trip for suggestions on this.

As far as your mom goes, she obviously needs a relationship with Jesus. You cannot force her to see your side of things. But you have the most powerful weapon in the universe at your disposal--prayer. Pray for her everyday, enlist the aid of prayer warriors from your church, call prayer lines at places like 700 Club, and other ministries to pray for her. If you have a prayer partner(s) that you can get together with to pray enlist their help.
"For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst."--Matthew 18:20 (New American Standard Bible)

When you pray, be specific about what you want God to do in her life. Don't just stop with "bless my mom, amen."

And be relentless in prayer.

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."--Matthew 7:7-8
Some have misunderstood this to mean ask once and that is all you need to do. Once may be enough in some situations but not many. This verse in the original ancient Greek is written in the "present imperative" tense. Therefore it should be translated: "Ask and keep on asking and it will be given to you; seek, and keep on seeking and you will find; knock, and keep on knocking and it will be opened to you." Again, be relentless in prayer for your mother.

"Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."--1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Talk to the leader of the group that you're going with about the finances. Maybe he/she can help you raise support from your church.

As far as your Mom goes, just be praying for her and asking Jesus to soften her heart to the idea of your going. If God is calling you to do something, He will make a way for you to go.

As far as learning Spanish goes, I suggest you take a class. You are in high school right? Does your school offer Spanish? Or you could hire a tutor to teach you...you could learn more quickly that way, & it'd be more specific to your needs.

To brush up on your sign language, just look up keyword "Sign language." I'm sure that you'll find thousands of sites that can teach you new words.

Good luck!

P.S. Ronnlynn's right...honor your mother. If she flat-out refuses to let you go, obey her.

Whoa you sound just like me! When I was 15 I was desperate to learn spanish and go on missions trips. I'm 20 now and God totally has made these last 5 years of mine an adventure!! I'm excited for you, the way I started learning spanish was through a ciriculum called "Powerglide" you can probably easily search for it on google. I learned the basics from that, but you can probably learn the basics from any other cassette tape/book program. The VERY BEST way to learn spanish is by actually being IN the country that speaks it and you are forced to learn. I would say give yourself a month or two down there and really practice hard and you will get it faster than you think! About fundraising, the best thing I can suggest to you is to write a letter that you can send to everyone you know telling them about your plans and what you are wanting to do and ask them to pray for you and ask them if they can support you financially. And PRAY about if and God wil AMAZE you like he did for me! Wow God's awesome.. BLESSINGS!!!!!!

I know a girl who completely financed her mission trip with her church by babysitting, cleaning houses, and fundraising (like car washes with her church)---lot of work but it CAN be done! You've got a year, so get started and SAVE.

As for languages, you should be able to find free materials at the public LIBRARY, esp. audio-visuals. If your local branch doesn't, ask a librarian to show you how to use interlibrary loan. They are usually more than happy to help.

If you know any women native speakers (Spanish or sign language), maybe you can trade for their tutoring you (do same number of hours in housework or babysitting or any skill you have). (Don't meet any men away from public eye--not safe).

I'm sorry about your mom not taking you seriously, but you'll have to obey her rules (as long as it's nothing immoral) until you're 18, even if that means putting off your trip a couple years.

Continue to love her, as love is of God, and love changes hearts. Even Jesus had to obey His parents when He was young.

Well, Young Earth Creationists suppose the sector is approximately 6000 years historical. I variety of doubt they be given that. Anything approximately the sector replacing will get lumped in combination, the Big Bang, evolution- all of them cross towards their blind notion that God did it simply as it's. They absolutely can not see purpose, they decide on the proof they desire. SOme would possibly discover a few solution to be given it however they could nonetheless be ignoring the truth that it take thousands of years which indicates a deficient expertise of those theories and technological know-how traditionally. Though the ones are simply the YECs, you'll consider God created over billions of years via the Big Bang and evolution.

Take Spanish at your high school. Look into sign language classes at local colleges, tech schools, or community centers.

Don't worry about your age (1 Tim. 4:12).

You can raise money by sending out letters to people you know explaining what you are going to do and asking for their help. I've done it, and it really strengthens your dependence on God!

Because you are still in your mother's house (and we're to honor our parents), if she tells you not to go, don't. However, just because she doesn't agree whole heartedly does not mean you can't go!

Your church is the place that should raise your funding, no one else.
The Public Library is a great place to check out learning materials for Spanish-learning and American Sign (ASL).

You can learn Spanish through free podcasts on iTunes. Isn't your church going to help you with the costs - talk to the Catholic Church if not. They do a lot of missionary work.
