Let me thank your husband for his service. As a Vietnam Veteran, I think we should never have gotten involved.

Though it is terrible that soldiers are needed in Iraq, it is probably best that British Soldiers are in some of the more hostile (towards US/UK personnel) areas. The simple reason being that it would probably be a lot worse if it was just the US soldiers there, who tend to shoot first, ask questions later.

I once heard the US army motto being described as "Panic -but with dignity" where as a British serviceman can remain calm and assess situations better (clearly shown on the documentary on Sky One about the British Army). This is because the British Army is the BEST in the world in terms of its men and women. And all this leads to less innocent civilians being wounded or killed.

The British are also the best at the "hearts and minds" approach to peacekeeping and gaining a peoples's trust, unlike the Americans's "Shock and Awe" approach to subduing and controlling a population.

Therefore, it is not good that a British soldier is in Iraq, but better them than an ignorant US soldier.

Thank your husband for his service. I personally don`t think that British soldiers shouldn't`t be in Iraq but how ever Tony Blair said a month ago that British force are withdrawing from Iraq in 4 years.

Its a pity to say, but the US being in IRAQ has done nothing but make them hate us more, and there hasnt been a chance to rebuild or do much good as long as the attacks continue...its more of a bloodbath now than ever...I really sympathise with the soldiers...it's almost an absolute complete waste of time, men and money!

both my brothers went to Iraq when the war started and they had to be sent packages and boots coz the gov ran out of supplies. my oldest brother has been in the paras since 94 and he has been a lot of wars, Basra, Ireland,Iraq etc. he says that he lost many of his Friends in the war and has seen many terrors. i don't see my oldest brother and my other brother left this year due to the attacks.i just wish England would fight their own battles and we wouldn't have went to war in the first place. i think the gov should get a grip.
1 get our men away from other country's wars
2 sort out the terror problem
3 kick out the illegals
4 get rid of people like him with that hook as a hand.

they come into our country steal our money, jobs and some even kill us. how do we say thanks to them? we give them our homes and feed and give them our money.
they don't even have to work but we end up paying for them.
cheers Mr Blair
sorry i went on a bit. dx

All the American people are grateful that there are magnificent, brave, young men, willing to go and fight and die when their country asks. But I am sorry to tell you in Iraq we are fighting the wrong people for the wrong reasons.

Bush kept changing the reasons as each one was proved false. We have no business at all to be in Iraq, or to die to bring them democracy, when we know they will go back to Islamist government 6 months after we leave.

All our dead and billions of $ will have been wasted for Bush, Blair and Israel, who want to rule the world. What utter waste !

I do hope your husband comes back to you soon. Be proud of him, it is not his fault.

Tell your husband I said thanks! It takes a lot of courage to have to go out to war and be a soldier. I feel so sad and sorry every day for them just thinking about how scared they must be through all the war. I've been praying for their health and safety ever since I knew about war and soldiers.

-God bless

i feel sorry for them that they believe in all that "for honor and glory" crap. Rich men give bits of metal on ribbon to men stupid enough to help them get richer.
The most honorable thing a man can to is look after his wife and kids by staying at home not risking his life to make already rich men even richer..

I think its time now to pull our troops out They have done a great job. WELL DONE. why should they be put at further risk. when it
seems they cannot live in peace with each other they must kill
So come lads and let them kick the crap out of each other They are a wast of space
