dogs and cats are pregnant for approximately 63 days. If your dog was bred more than one day, then count 63 days from the day of the first breeding date. Say if your dog was bred on Tuesday, then count Wednesday as day 1 and so on. If this is your dog's first pregnancy, then figure about 2 days earlier to be safe as sometimes first time mamas can be a couple of days early.
If you know how to take your dog's temperature, then you can take her temperature 3 times a day during the last few days and a change in temp usually occurs abour 24 hours before birth. If you don't know how then watch your dog closely. during the last 24 to 48 hours she will 'drop'. All the ligaments and tendons will relax in preparation to giving birth and you will notice new hollows on each side of the base of her tail, anywhere from 48 hours to 6 hours before birthing.
