This is a Miss Manners issue that I totally ignore. I wear what colors I want when I want. I do wear winter white in winter, but then it is still white.

Once when a person at work commented about my wearing white, I said thanks, but I enjoy wearing white and it compliments my sweater. LOL

That's an old fogey fashion rule. Nowadays, people wear whatever they want, when they want and what colors they want. White is a popular color for winter nowadays so it would definitely be okay to wear it after September.

It ISN'T a big deal. Only stuck-up white class snobs make a big deal about things like that.

It is the symbol of summer ending and fall beginning. White is usually only worn during the spring and summer, the exception being a wedding.

It is just one of those fashion laws - if you break the law the fashion police come to get you and take you to Elton John's house and you are forced to pole dance for him.
