It's probably lymph from the healing wound - as long as it's whitish, it should be fine, or it may be plaque. Keep your cleaning routine going - keep Listerining after everything you put in your mouth, and it should be fine. Have you tried brushing the barbell when you brush your teeth?
If you're really concerned about it, go back to your piercer and get his/her opinion. He/she may also be able to give you more ideas for cleaning.
Good luck!

Some Health Risks
If all goes well, you should be fine after a body piercing except for some temporary symptoms, including some pain, swelling at the pierced area, and in the case of a tongue piercing, increased saliva. But be aware that several things, including the following, can go wrong in some cases:
chronic infection
uncontrollable or prolonged bleeding
scarring
hepatitis B and C
tetanus
skin allergies to the jewelry that's used
abscesses or boils (collections of pus that can form under your skin at the site of the piercing)
inflammation or nerve damage
Depending on the body part, healing times can take anywhere from a few weeks to more than a year. If you do get a piercing, make sure you take good care of it afterward — don't pick or tug at it, keep the area clean with soap (not alcohol), and don't touch it without washing your hands first. Never use hydrogen peroxide because it can break down newly formed tissue. If you have a mouth piercing, use an antibacterial mouthwash after eating.
If you're thinking of donating blood, be aware that some organizations won't accept blood donations from anyone who has had a body piercing or tattoo within the last year because both procedures can transmit blood-borne diseases.
If your piercing doesn't heal correctly or you feel something might be wrong, it's important to get medical attention. Most important, don't pierce yourself or have a friend do it — make sure it's done by a professional in a safe and clean environment.

I Have a ring and I just got in done a couple of, mo's ago. I had the same thing. You shouldn't use Q-tips.. it is normal b/c your body has to get use to it. There is some thing in your toung that your body thinks it not spose to be there. Give it 2 weeks or so and live it a lone till then. Just wash it normally and use salt water and, every time you eat wash it. Don't use Q-tip you are just makeing it worse. Give it time.

TONGUE ring heals in 2 months, feels healed in like each week and a a million/2, and this is in basic terms approximately impossible to get an infection. abdomen ring takes as much as a year to heal and might get contaminated actual with the aid of fact of clothing. i could say abdomen with the aid of fact it will in all risk be your first make it some thing hidden. I definitely have the two. have been given the abdomen first, in basic terms approximately have been given contaminated with the aid of fact I placed on my pants to my bellybutton and it rubbed against it till i ended. abdomen hurts somewhat extra yet the two exceedingly plenty do no longer harm in any respect.

Absolutely do NOT remove it. It is a normal part of the healing process. Just continue with the Listerine and put a drop of Gly-Oxide on the top and bottom twice daily.

There is also this stuff that they told up to put on our...its a liquid...and im sorry but i cant remermber. it was like an mouth antibiotic.
If you are still unsure...call or go back to the place where you had it done at. its better to have them look at it, and catch or not catch something before its too late.

That never happened to me when I had my tongue pierced. Sounds like you have an infection. See the doctor...

Sounds like tartar. You need to continue the listerine after anything goes in your mouth. That is what happened to mine
