I will not call atheist pretentious because they are not pretending about who they are, the agnostics admit doubt. But the other people seem to be feigning piety.

There is underlying hostility in their comments. I've only read one or two responses that seem genuine in their belief and decorum.

Muffie, now I've read 3 responses that seem genuine.

You are an asset to Y!A Christians. You readily admitted your true feelings and WHY you feel that way. (Most of the others did not respond to this question at all).

I think if the others are more self effacing and less reprimanding they might actually get some non-christians' attention.

Color me Miss Mary Sunshine or whatever, but I believe in the basic goodness in people. I think that most Christians here are "the real McCoy" who genuinely believe in their religion. I also think that they're just people, too. It's very frustrating to believe one thing as the truth and have that truth blatantly thrown in your face with either personal attacks or blanket generalizations, whether you've said anything derogatory or not. Add the imperative to convert and you've got someone who's not feeling all the love that they're "supposed" to be feeling because they're feeling awful defensive.

Sure, there are Christian trolls here, people who are attacking and inciting for Christ. They're here just to argue. However, I think the larger majority of Christians are here because the topic interests them and that they're genuinely Christian.

I think a lot of people here write things that are reactionary rather than necessarily thought out. I, myself, have typed several reactionary answers that I've just not submitted because my motives in answering weren't nice. I know I've submitted a few answers or more that weren't nice at all because I felt less than peaceful at something someone else wrote.

Any place where there is religious discussion--even in places where the people are of the same religion--there will be underlying hostility. When have human beings ever managed a positive response to "can't we all just get along?"

I used to call myself Christian, but I really don't want to anymore. You are supposed to love your neighbor and not judge them, yet thats not what I hear them doing.. I believe in God and that Jesus died on the cross, I have been batised, twice. But when a church leader cheats on his wife and then marries the other woman, while still married to the other!!! And not supporting his children??? or when the sunday school teacher get drunk at a church members 16th birthday party??? or when that same sunday school teacher tells another church member to take her bible and to shove it up her fat a$$??? Or when my kids are looked down upon because we can't give the correct tything, because WE NEED TO EAT!!! or because we don't dress nice enough?? or because we have too many tattoos???

How is that Christian like behavior????

Atheists NOT pretending..Surely you jest.
I could name you three off the top of my head who pretended to be Christians when they asked insulting Questions trying to stir people up.

You are not looking or you do not want to look.

The main problem is:
God uses people for His work; however, way too often people use God to justify their actions.
