There's this guy I like, and he says he likes me to ... well he keeps telling my best friend that he wants to ask me out but he says he's afraid of hurting me by ruining our friendship (we're good friends). We talk to each other on the phone almost everyday for like an hour or two, and he's even come to see me at work once, and he'll call my best friend to talk to her about me! Everyone tells me he really likes me and he has told me he really likes me. He'll even ask me when we're on the phone if I like him and if I'd ever date him and I'll tell him yes, but what's his deal if he likes me then why won't he ask me out?

He's either unsure or insecure. The first thing your best friend has to do when he's talking to her about you is to tell him 'I don't want to hear it; if you want to know, then you have to ask/ tell her'.
I don't know why he should be so scared, though, if you keep reassuring him...next time he asks you should tell him that you don't know how much longer he can keep your interest if he doesn't make a move.

this guy must of been hurt before and is probably scared that if you break up you will no longer be friends. Ask him out and swere to stay his friend

thats kind of wierd. he might just be a player, but if he's not, he could be worried about your friendship. if it bothers you that much, just talk to him about it or ask him out yourself. if what you said about him is true, im sure he'd say yes.
