Either word is acceptable to secular academics. Only rabidly anti-Witness critics with religious preconceptions could be troubled by the use of one synonym over another (between "worship" and "obeisance").

(Matthew 2:2) “Where is the one born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when we were in the east, and we have come to do him obeisance.”

Jehovah's Witnesses' "New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures" only restores the divine name to the Christian Greek Scriptures (the so-called "New Testament") where the NT quotes an OT passage which had the divine name. The Witnesses believe that the bible writers must have originally used the divine name in their original writings, and there is some evidence to support the idea.

I wondered about that to and did some checking. They didn't remove it even the priest said so. The people who wrote the bible King james. Changed it and took the name out.
don't know about John 1:1 they just put it back.
But I do know that on hearing that about the end at 1975 Did some checking. Not only Jehovah's Witnesses but many other religions said that by going from his birth to that ones death
could count back in time using certain know dates
they arrived at the fact that 6000 years of human existance was in 1975. That is all that was said.
Many people JW's and others thought that would signal the end.
Then in 2000 many churches and people and witnesses and a lot of others thought that would be the end of time.

Should I not be a Babtist because in the year 2000 he said that something was going to happen? Well, it didn't!
I really hope you keep that promise that this is the last time you dish Jehovah's Witnesses. next time get the facts straight.

Don't listen the answers from Non - Jehovah's Witnesses. Many of these individuals only want to criticize Jehovah's Witnesses. Many are bitter ex JW's that will not tell you the truthful reason behind your question. If you don't like the truthful answer to your question that is up to you to decide, but please make sure you are talking to a JW, just the same as you will most likely get an more accurate answer about LDS from a mormon. Putting the word "a" in John 1:1 follows the original thought of that scripture. Many translations have used different wording to convey the same thought. Putting the word "a" in this scripture, more accurately conveys the original though. This scripture is not saying that Jesus is God.
Obiesance is worship, they are the same thing. As far as why Jehovah's name was put in the Greek scriptures I will have to do more research on that to answer that one for you. As far as the Hebrew scriptures are concerned, the name Jehovah appears in there over 6,000 times shown by what is referred to as the tetragrammaton or YHWH. No one knows the exact pronounciation of God's name as it was originally pronounced in Hebrew but Jehovah is the closest we know as it is translated from Hebrew to English. the original name of god in the Koran and old testament was Jehovah, get a book on religion. I am not a Jehovah's witness. also think about this the king James version of the bible is not the only true word of god, it was translated in the 1600's also if you do any research, the words of the bible have been changed a lot over the years, some books left out, some verses taken out or changed. You need to do some more research before you quote
from the bible. also I have called god ,Jehovah, as long as I can remember, its his name, god is his title!

Jehovah's Witnesses are a world recognized religion of the Christian faith. Cults do not contain over 6 million members with more than 7 million more people in association, cults do not open their doors to the general public as Jehovah's Witnesses do, cults follow after a man or men, Jehovah's Witnesses follow God's Son Christ Jesus. People who call Jehovah's Witnesses a cult are lacking in knowlege and understanding nor do they care to understand. They are ignorant of the facts.

I am including a link that goes to a brochure that answers your question exactly. If you honestly want the answer, you will read it. Go to the subheadings "The Name Was There" and "The Removal of the Name" http://www.watchtower.org/library/na/index.htm?article=article_05.htm

As far as the 1975 thing goes...Pope Paul VI announced the 1975 holy year back in May 1973. Why don't people go on and on about that? It was 6,000 years of mankind's being on the earth. If some people were confused about what that meant, well... even Jesus apostles were confused at times, and he was right there with them. They thought Jesus was restoring God's Kingdom on the earth after his resurrection.(Acts1:6 )

We, as Jehovah's Witnesses do not know when Armageddon is going to occur, but we can look at the world conditions and see that it is VERY close. And we choose to live our lives with that day in mind, because it helps us stay focused on the importance of warning as many people as we can. If you don't want to know, or want to focus on a mistake...that is your choice, but as for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah.

Jehovah's Witnesses have answered every last question you've asked before to many people. However, those who don't seek understanding will never get understanding. You only ask these questions in order to disprove that Jehovah's Witnesses are in the truth. Therefore, you really wouldn't gain insight in any way.

You are correct on a fronts except for Revelation 22:18...it means if you add or take away from THIS book...the book of Revelation. When the books of the bible were written, they were not all together in a pile ready to be published, but separate books.

you really should speak directly with a JW for the answer to these questions. They will be able to answer your question better than anyone here on this forum whom you don't know.
If you're serious and not just trying to cause trouble that's how you might proceed.

On your last question I know that they have addressed the issue of the "prediction" and admitted their fault and clearly stated that it is not their place to set a date.

answers.yahoo.com seems like such a strange place for all these religious questions.
