Are you going for entertainment value? Think about it before you answer. Did you church-hop until you found a church that "spoke your language", i.e. entertained you the way you wanted?

Those that have answered the question on behalf of others: I did not ask to speculate on why others go to church. I asked Church-goers directly. If you are not a Church-goer, don't answer the question.

Those that have said "The bible said..."

UH--Uh. I want to know YOUR reason. Why do you go to Church? Not "the bible said so." It also says that you must love one another, and I know we don't all do that one, so answer on your own. And once again, no speculating on why OTHERS go. I'm asking Church-goers. If you don't go, don't answer.

I go to church because I have an insatiable desire to. It's a place where I can commune with other believers to worship God and listen to his Word.

When I became a Christian, one of the first things on my mind was 'how do I get to church?' (I had no car then, and it scared and saddened me to think that I'd not be able to attend.) There was this desire born in my heart that led me in that direction.

I didn't church-hop; I was invited there by a friend and it was a phenomenal church that had more of an impact of me than I realized. Once I became a Christian (some time later), I decided I wanted to go back to that one, rather than "waste" time looking for another equally good one. The community there is simply amazing, and I'm thankful that I found it (or rather, that it found me).

I don't go for entertainment value at all. Not in the sense, anyways, that I suspect you mean. I go because I need that time with God and other Christians. I need the pastor's insights on God's Word, and I am in awe of how God uses it to speak to me and touch my heart.

I know I'm rambling; sorry. I am simply in love with church (with my church anyways) and could not advocate enough that other Christians find one that's right for them. (By this I don't mean that they search out one that is pure entertainment or tells them only what they want to hear; rather that they find one that remains true to God's Word and lives for others and not just themselves. Too many churches are far too introverted and self-serving...)

A very large number go to church on a Sunday, after a night of partying, and fornication. They'll listen to sermons which one way or another will turn into blessing republican government. Then they'll pay their tithe which they also think clears them of what they did the night before. And they go on with life. By the next Friday night, the cycle starts over.

Others, like a close school friend of mine goes to church for sex.
He said (edited of course), ' the best two places to pick up sex is in a bar or a church."

Others also go for business reasons. after all, what better a paying customer will you get, than a brother in church.

What's left? A very slight few that go because they love God and want to worship him and keep his commandments.

My family and I church-hopped until God led us to the church he saw fit for us to attend. In fact, it took us two states to find the right one. As for the purpose for going: the Bible says that you should go to church in order to learn more about our Lord and Savior, to praise Him, and to have fellowship with other Christians.Though a large number of churches out there are very entertaining, that is definitely not my reason.

Because the Bible instructs us to. Going to church is beneficial for your faith. Church attendance and prayer can help you. In my experience, some of the relationships I've established while attending church have produced friendships that are more satisfying and deeper than some of the relationships with my own family. Remember, Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven.

I go to church for community and support. I also go to hear the word of God.I did church hop until I found a church that was small with a good youth group for my then-young-children and until I found one that was a Bible preaching church.

Because it is important to have a place where you can fellowship with other members of the Body of Christ. Also, it is important in the feeding of the spirit through the teaching of the Word. Also, it is important to have a place that you can go to when you are in trouble or in need. No, I did not church hop.

No church hopping for me! I've always attended the same church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - aka Mormon). I thoroughly enjoy the Sabbath day. Attending church meetings are uplifting, encouraging and set the tone for my week.

Non-demoninational church homes aren't to any extent further all a similar. i'm a member of one; we are area of a nationwide/global community of church homes, so we're not truly self sufficient. we are liberal wondering in that we view ourselves as having household initiatives and responsibilities to at least one yet another, the earth & the international. We propose for the rights of the undesirable, imprisoned and disenfranchised. besides the undeniable fact that, i assume we are conservative in our interpretation of the bible, consisting of a real position referred to as hell. All that to assert, you truly favor to inspect a skill church beforehand you connect. All church homes, consisting of non-denominationals, aren't to any extent further a similar. locate out as a lot as you could. I attended frequently for a twelve months beforehand I joined. save this in options too. we are able to not %. a church that makes us experience solid and we like the sermons each and every of the time. the right church is biblically sound and it will make you experience somewhat uncomfortable at cases -- no longer in a condemning and judgmental way, yet in a way the position the Holy Spirit convicts us on our own topics.

I go because it is a place where I can go to pray to God out of all the hectic stuff in my life. It gives me peace each time. I like being in a church where it has a nice atmosphere.

The bible says "do not forsake the gathering of the brethern" I take it to mean don't lay around on Sunday, get to church! Also it is to honor our Lord.
