We don't need all of these different denominations, but they were created due to doctrinal differences. Bob thinks such-and-such a scripture means this; Joe thinks it means this, they can't agree, so Joe branches off of Bob's denomination and creates a new one. The differences may seem piddly or they may be obviously important, but that's why. There are differences of belief regarding baptism, communion, tithing, resurrection, which books are canonical... and so on and so on. But I would think that a Baptist would love a Lutheran who would love a Methodist who would love a Catholic. I think that most do, and realize we're all Christians. We just have preferences. If you feel that someone should be fully immersed in water for a baptism, you might choose a Baptist church. If you feel that Mary will intercede for you, you might choose a Catholic church.

Religion was created by people, not by God. People do things for their own reasons, the creation of religion is no different from any of the other cons men has perpetrated on each other thru the centuries.

God has nothing to do with religion and religion is not necessary to reach God. Religion is all about power over other people, nothing else.
