Is this a sidewalk next to the street? If so, you are opening yourself to lawsuit.

In most places, the sidewalk is NOT private property. IF you sprinkle something on the sidewalk that harms someones dog, YOU are responsible for all medical bills.

It won't hurt them. The dogs are smarter than most owners. I have Five dogs that do not use my front yard but for some reason I always have piles in front so I plan to get the pepper out as soon as it quits raining.

Cayenne pepper is Red Pepper

Try some "Bitter Apple" but if this is a public sidewalk, it is a city ordinance issue - contact your city hall and discuss this with them

put up a fence.

confront the dogs and or the owners

have a mean cat to keep the dogs away

post a sign saying "this yard is not your poop stop"

Keep a pellet gun handy just for these pesky owners and critters and pepper there behinds...

Move to a different home...

Not sure if I will spell this right but kiane - its pronounce ky-ann pepper works the best. Red pepper may help but its not nearly as strong. We used this stuff to keep our dogs from digging in our flower bed. Worked everytime. Good luck!

it works,it is legal in my area, make sure it is legal in yours as well.
Citronella spikes by your bushes will help discourage male dogs from urinating on them as well.

I put a small trashcan by my gate with a note encouraging people to pick up their dogs poop,it did help.

You can also set up a sprinkler to go off that is motion activated when a dog or person comes onto your lawn, make sure you check local laws on that.

The Best way I found to stop lazy losers from not picking up after their dog is a video camera, I taped them leaving the mess and took it to our local cops and filed the reports and also made stills of the owner as a sort of "public shaming list" and put it up on the local humane society notice board along with their names and the fines they received from the cops and knowing that they would have their picture put up by me and by others who copied and did the same thing has worked wonders.

I tried it to stop dogs and cats from going on my lawn. It didn't work. I now live in a house with desert landscape.

Don't do this. It is harmful to the environment. If you can get a fence or pick it up OR get the owners to pick it up.

well, it certainly works....does it make your sidewalk red? Do you track it all over your carpet?
