A little more information would have been helpful.

This is the only section that I found on Microsoft's site:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/technologies/activedirectory/maintain/opsguide/part1/adogd11.mspx

But I'm really not sure that is what you're looking for.
Could it be that you just need a program that will help you deal with/rename duplicate files?

Perhaps one of these will help you:
http://www.snapfiles.com/downloadfind.php?action=s&search.x=0&search.y=0&st=Renaming+duplicate+files

Or this:

This is very easy.. just a few steps:
put the files in the order you want them. (file size, alph.)
Hi lite all files you want to rename. (Ctrl A hi lites em all)
Right clk on the top file and clk Rename
Rename that top file. After the new name put a space and a 1 in paren. (1)
The space is important.
clk Enter. DONE. You can just rename some of the files or all. They will all have the same file name with a (x) number after them. You can use any number you wish and the rest of the files will follow w/ next no.
Any questions --- IM me.
