Hot dogs are a very interesting thing to watch be made. If you look at the bun the machine doesn't cut them all the way, it leaves just enough to keep the bun together. And I would recommend if you wonder how things are made watch the show How It's Made, they show you how aluminum foil is made, violins, Bread, and much much more are all made.

Probably because that in the factory, it's all a big loaf of bread. Knives then cut the middle of each bun, and another one separates one from another. My take on why all are buns still a little bit together is that it makes it easier for transportation and presentation, otherwise the buns wouldn't be so stackable on the shelves.

I know what you mean...they're all stuck together in the package, but have a slit in each and every one..

I don't really know..if I had to guess...maybe their sliced prior to packaging and just from being fresh, warm, they stick together????? Just a guess...
