Yes. Clairol makes 2 different highlight kits. One has a 2 pronged type comb that you squirt the highlight cream into & comb in. The other one is a slanted paintbrush that you dip into the cream & paint your hair. I've used the comb one & it's fun to do. It's a bit time consuming; it took me about 45 minutes to get it all in. My son had fun helping me in the back where I couldn't see, even with a handheld mirror. Both kits are by the Herbal Essences line. There are other kits out there too. Shop around & find one you like. You can always go online to the source below. Clairol's color experts will help you decide upon a highlight kit that's going to give you the results you're looking for. In the source below is the link to the kits I spoke of above. Have fun!

I have medium brown hair, and have had much success with an at home kit that colors and highlights. I'm kicking myself that I can't remember the brand now, but it is the only such kit and comes in a large box that is mostly red. It is one of the many companies products, like L'oreal or Revlon. It costs ~ 19.99. Argh. Anyway, you can pick medium brown for the color and the highlights will be reddish brown. You just comb them in with a mascara wand they give you. It's foolproof and subtle enough that you don't need to worry about looking streaked.
AAH--It's called Colo(u)r Expert!!!! Try it out!

Hey, I decided once that I wanted to do my own highlights, and I loved them. Go to a Meijer, Wal-Mart, or other bigger grocery type store and get Herbal Essences Highlight box. I think mine was $9.97 to be exact and there was an entire variety of colors to choose from. I took it home and it was sooo easy! All I did was put the color onto a comb that comes with the highlighting box and brushed the color wherever i wanted it. I love it and will definitely do it again.

You can do it, but have a salon bleach it and then find the color you want. Don't mess with bleach.

You can, but if this is your first time (which it sounds like) you should probably get it done by a professional.
