In your first day do a tour with open bus(there are 4 lines with connection between them) and so you can see a lot of Paris. It will be about 4-5 hours.Than you can stop where you want (you can use a ticket a whole day) and see what you liked more.I suggest you the Eiffel Tower (but you need time to buy your ticket), the Champs Elysees avenue from Place de l'Etoile(here is the Arch of Triomphe) to Place de la Concorde, see the wonderful bridge Alexandre the third. You can do a short visit in Montmartre quartier (with the church Sacre Coeur), a short one to the tombe of Napoleon in the Invalides Dome and if you are Speedy Gonzales you can see Mona Lisa (in the first sunday of each month it's free the entrance to Louvre).Bon voyage!

Oh, I'm too late, I was just going to suggest Les Catacombes - especially if it is very hot when you're there, they're underground and always very cool. I took a lot of friends through there not only because it's fun but also for the natural air conditioning. The catacombes were featured on the last episode of "Treasure Hunters" on NBC.
Also, if you have time or want to just relax, I suggest the Tuileries gardens - beautiful park and there's a fountain where kids rent little wooden sailboats to push around - very sweet. I can't remember when it is but a carnival also comes to the Tuileries in the summertime.

I'd add the Sacre Coeur and Notre Dame only. Versailles is beautiful, but it takes a full day to really see it and it's farther out of Paris, so there's travel time involved. I also highly reccomend Les Catacoombs in Denfert Rochereau (probably misspelled that last bit). Have a great trip!

The Eiffel Tower or the Arc de Triomph are good places. You might want to check out Napoleon Bonaparte's tomb, if it is open to the public.

The Sacre Coeur (church/cathedral) was so beautiful it made me cry.
Notre Dame is excellent and on an island in the Seine so you can walk to other places from it.
Musee D'Orsay is the best art gallery in the world (in my opinion) and it's built in an old train terminal.

Cowgirl that's a pretty good list you have there for a short trip. I would also recommend a Seine Cruise and a stop at Notre dame.
