No, it's not possible for the simple reason that they don't want people doing this if they have evil intentions.

It seems inconsistent that the networks appeared to have no problem with the names of the Seal Team 6 members being kept secret in the interest of their safety and the safety of their families. Fox and others were fine with that. How is this different? Yeah, the guy wrote a book but the issue is still the same. Not only has he endangered his life and the lives of his family, but potentially he has endangered the lives of others in his unit, people who did not write a book. Freedom of the press and the public's right to know is important but the press shouldn't hide behind the first amendment when they do something questionable. Sometimes they must ask themselves if releasing a particular piece of information, in this case the author of a book on the raid, benefits the public in any way. In this instance I don't see how the public's right to know should be more important than personal safety. BTW, I don't care which news organization was the first to run his name. The 'they already did it' defense doesn't really fly.

No there isn't. Even if you knew his name, the only way to find him would be the same way you find everyone else, with the phone book. The Navy is not allowed to give out any personal info. If I wanted to call one of my co-workers at home and didn't have his number. The people at work are not allowed to give it to me, even though they know who I am. You'd have a hard time finding him even with help. Don't think to many people could help you if you called up and said, "I met this guy over the weekend at the mall, his first name is Joe and he said he was a seal." Not really much to go on.

No way possible. Just by using common sense, without a last name, no one is going to do countless of hours of research for you. Besides, the military will probably not help you, because they don't know who you are, and what you intend to do with this info.

Not if he is on active duty. You might get some one at Norfolk navy base to pass it on as a courtesy. You'll have to explain it all.

You might ask around his town. Most cities treat their military as heroes. If you ask around town just about everybody will know him or at least know who he is..

I think anyone who wanted to see you again would have taken YOUR phone number and not lost it.
