There are several Scriptural indications that Jesus sat on his heavenly throne in 1914. The most specific refer to the book of Daniel and bible chronological patterns, but a much simpler one looks at Revelation...

(Revelation 12:7-12) And war broke out in heaven: ...angels battled with the dragon, and the dragon and its angels battled but it did not prevail, neither was a place found for them any longer in heaven. So down the great dragon was hurled, the original serpent, the one called Devil and Satan, who is misleading the entire inhabited earth; he was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him. ...Woe for the earth and for the sea, because the Devil has come down to you, having great anger, knowing he has a short period of time.”

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the tremendous increase in mankind's problems are due to the increased anger and proximity of Satan and his demons. Historians point to what year as the turning point for civilization and morality? ...1914, with the start of World War 1.

Jehovah's Witnesses are NOT a cult, and correctly consider the use of this term to be insulting and bigottedly anti-Witness.

You have just got on Yahoo, Q&A's, almost every ??? you have asked is about Jehovah's Witnesses, does your brain only register one subject?

Here is something for you:

The only reason for your ???, is to receive negative answers, so let's take a survey since you like to ask & receive.

Let's take a "survey" and get the opinions (of people) by asking specific questions.

1. Were any of you ever a Jehovah's Witness?

2. Did you just decide to leave without a reason?

3. Was there a reason?

4. Were you disfellowshipped?

5. If you were disfellowshipped, for what reason?
Here are some reasons one can be removed from
the Congregation, please choose one or more.

Some of the offenses that could merit disfellowshipping from the Christian congregation are fornication, adultery, homosexuality, greed, extortion, thievery, lying, drunkenness, reviling, spiritism, murder, idolatry, apostasy, and the causing of divisions in the congregation.

6. Or is it just because you hate what we believe?

7. JW's are in 235 lands & islands, we respect the flag of each country unlike most christian religions, Why do you think, the prisons are full of so-called Christians, why is it that so-called Christians are the ones that "burn, spit, step on the "flag" and show disrespect not only to the flag but to the country they live in?
I can think of a President of the U.S.A. that saluted or said the pledge of allegiance every day, yet He had to leave office because of wrong doing, and the deliberate act of deviating from the truth. So the saluting and pledge is not what makes you a good person, it's obeying God's Word, that does.

8. Is it because of people that could care less about
God's rules that are layed out in the Bible, you
people have 3 things on your brain, Catholics,
Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses.

9. Why don't you people wise up and start acting like a
Christian, isn't that what most of you claim to be?

I don't recall that notion but I think they do consider 1914 to be the end of some biblical age or rather, the beginning of the last days. Revelations 6 refers to a different kind of eye which is not limited to only the JW beliefs. The scripture refers to those who will regret or fear his coming.

Dreamer -

You should welcome a visit from a JW and find out all these answers much faster and friendlier than Yahooooo

1914 was the end of the gentile times not the return of the Christ.

Let me pop one your way -

If God is a god of love and peace and nobody should take up arms against another - and - the only followers of the bible that practice this are JW; would that not make you want to find out a little more...

Also, not a cult; we follow NO man and can walk away at anytime.

This “coming” is described also by the apostle John at Revelation 1:7, where he says: “Look! He is coming with the clouds.” Oh, those enemies will not actually see Jesus with literal eyes, for “the clouds” signifies that he comes invisibly to execute judgment. If mere humans were to behold his heavenly glory with the naked eye, they would be blinded, just as Saul, on the road to Damascus, was struck blind when the glorified Jesus appeared to him in a great flashing light.—Acts 9:3-8; 22:6-11.

The Revelation account states that “every eye will see him, and those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief because of him.” This means that opposers on earth will discern in the destruction that Jesus rains down on them that he has come with power and great glory as Jehovah’s Executioner. Why are these enemies described as “those who pierced him”? It is because their attitude of bitterness toward Jehovah’s servants today is like that of Jesus’ persecutors. They will, indeed, ‘beat themselves bitterly in grief because of him.’

What is meant by his ‘coming on the clouds’ and ‘every eye seeing him’?

Revelation 1:7: “Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, and those who pierced him; and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief because of him.” (Also Matthew 24:30; Mark 13:26; Luke 21:27)

What is indicated by “clouds”? Invisibility. When an airplane is in a thick cloud or above the clouds, people on the ground usually cannot see it, although they may hear the roar of the engines. Jehovah told Moses: “I am coming to you in a dark cloud.” Moses did not see God, but that cloud indicated Jehovah’s invisible presence. (Ex. 19:9; see also Leviticus 16:2; Numbers 11:25.) If Christ were to appear visibly in the heavens, it is obvious that not “every eye” would see him. If he appeared over Australia, for example, he would not be visible in Europe, Africa, and the Americas, would he?

In what sense will ‘every eye see him’? They will discern from events on earth that he is invisibly present. Also referring to sight that is not physical, John 9:41 reports: “Jesus said to [the Pharisees]: ‘If you were blind, you would have no sin. But now you say, “We see.” Your sin remains.’” (Compare Romans 1:20.) Following Christ’s return, some persons show faith; they recognize the sign of his presence. Others reject the evidence, but when Christ goes into action as God’s executioner of the wicked, even they will discern from the manifestation of his power that the destruction is not from men but from heaven. They will know what is happening because they were warned in advance. Because of what is overtaking them, they will “beat themselves in grief.”

To answer your second question, Jehovah's Witnesses are not a cult. Let's consider why.

Are Jehovah’s Witnesses a sect or a cult?

Some define sect to mean a group that has broken away from an established religion. Others apply the term to a group that follows a particular human leader or teacher. The term is usually used in a derogatory way. Jehovah’s Witnesses are not an offshoot of some church but include persons from all walks of life and from many religious backgrounds. They do not look to any human, but rather to Jesus Christ, as their leader.

A cult is a religion that is said to be unorthodox or that emphasizes devotion according to prescribed ritual. Many cults follow a living human leader, and often their adherents live in groups apart from the rest of society. The standard for what is orthodox, however, should be God’s Word, and Jehovah’s Witnesses strictly adhere to the Bible. Their worship is a way of life, not a ritual devotion. They neither follow a human nor isolate themselves from the rest of society. They live and work in the midst of other people.

I used to be one and I'm certainly not defending them beacuse their beliefs are whacky, but no whackier than any other religion. If you step back and look at any religion it sounds nuts.
