my vet gives me anti-depressants for my dog because he is scared of thunderstorms. No offense, but i am amazed that "every vet in town' says they can't medicate.

Since your dog got out, and wandered into the street because of this, i think some drugs to calm him down are a matter of life and death.

You can also try stuff called PetEze or something like that. It's a Pheramone scented spray or plug in that helps dogs relax.

Buy a crate for him. He doesn't need to be medicated, he needs to be crate trained. Go to Petsmart and find a booklet on how to crate train your dog and use it. It will be safer for him. : )

maybe get him a dog or buy him a cage so he could be in it and put toys in there so he /she won't be bored! and try to comfort him!
