If it is waking you up at night to go out and potty and it is 15 months old, then it just has a habit of going out at night. Once a dog is 14 weeks old, their bladder should hold for about 8 hours. Taking the water away, will not stop the behavior. If you are concerned that it will make a mess on the floor at night, then place it in a crate. Just because it goes potty when you let it out doesn't mean it couldn't wait until in the morning.

I'm confused about what you are asking? THe best way (in my opinion) to potty train, involves using a crate. We take puppy outside to potty, and they don't go, we come in and puppy goes in the crate for 10-15mins. AFter that we got BACK outside to try again and repeat above if nessicary. Once the dog does go potty, have a little party with the dogs. Tell it what a good dog it is, take a treat with you outside, and give it to the dog (don't wait until you get inside to give the treat. If you do, you just treated the dog for coming inside, not going potty.) Once the dog is "empty" then they can have a little freedom. Only for an hour 1/2 or 2hrs. Then we start over again. Dogs need to potty right after they wake up, before going to bed, about 30 mins after meals or water, and after about 15-20 mins of hard play.

A puppy is like a baby and your gonna lose sleep regardless if you want him to be house broken. You have to start by keeping him in a kennel or closed space where he can't move around too much. You should take him out side at least 8 times to start with.He will start to catch on and get a routine. If he does use the restroom in his area, tell him no! Bad Dog and take him outside immediately also clean up the mess A.S.A.P. if you leave it, he will think it's o.k. to go. When he goes outside, praise him every time. Puppies also get the urge to go at night and during the night so you pretty much have to get up and take him. You go at night sometimes too right? It's the same for them.

crate train your dog so that he sleeps in his crate at night....that way you don't have to worry about what he's getting into or whether he's messed in the house. It might be hard at first getting him used to being in the crate, but once he accepts it he should sleep through the night or only wake you up if he really has to go. He's old enough that he shouldn't have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night...it's more an issue of not letting him and teaching him that it's not acceptable. Physically, he should have no problem.

I normally don't advocate taking water away from an animal- but if he's having trouble holding it until morning, then take up his water no later than 6 in the evening. Treats are good for potty-training.

I don't think you have to house break them at all. If you keep at dog outside a good part of the time, they will want to go outside. After about 8 or 9 months, they will be "house broken", even if you did nothing. You can make them timid though by scolding them for accidents.
