They can definitely do that.
It just means wearing them a little longer
depending on the degree of the overbite.

If you have an overbite, then yes. I had an overbite that was corrected with braces. In addition, some teeth were brought closer together and straightened. I had braces about 20 years ago. After getting them removed and wearing a retainer for a while, my teeth shifted very slightly over time, but didn't interfere with my bite.

Yep, there are some of the brackets that they put on your canines (the sharp ones) that have little hooks on them. If you've ever seen people wearing the rubber bands that stretch from those little hooks back in their mouth, THAT is that part of the braces that fixes overbites. It repositions your jaw somehow so your teeth are better aligned.

I just got mine off, and they're wonderful now! :-D

actually it depends on how severe the overbite is... i had to have some contraption called a herbst appliance (sp?) that looked like shock absorbers on my back teeth before i even got the braces... then once my jaw was moved enough, i got the braces, and still had to deal with the rubberbands...

Yes, they will. my overbite has improved greatly in the year that I have had the braces on, and, according to the orthodontist, that is only going to get better with the rubber bands.

Yes. I had them to straighten my teeth and correct a slight overbite.

No, they will only straighten your teeth. To fix an overbite of a considerable size you have to have your lower jawbone cut and slid forward.

It has each and everything to do with this kind of difficulty it is being corrected. in case you had "crooked tooth" it would not take very lengthy in any respect... some months at maximum. yet once you've an "over chew"... that calls for about 2 finished years of Orthodontic clinical care. sturdy luck!
