Spiritualism - the dictionary defines it as: 'The belief that spirits of the dead can be contacted by the living'.

I do not believe that when we die that is it....Why then are we put on this Earth. Why do we experience all that we do...I have been psychic since I was a little girl and I have experienced many wonderful things. No one will ever take away this belief from me....

I attend a Spiritualist church and haven't come across any negativity with this, but then again I don't tell anyone who comes to my door what my religion of choice is. I'm sure though, that if anyone from the Jehovah's Witness sect were to find out about my Spiritualist/Wiccan beliefs that they would be appalled. Jehovah's Witnesses believe that the only way to get into Heaven is by how many people they can convert to their religion, so when they come across someone who they believe has such different views from their own, they are basically at a loss for words.

For those of you who do not know what a Spiritualist is, basically we believe that you can communicate with the deceased. Usually at the end of a church service, "communications" will be given, which simply means that the Medium, who has led the church service, will receive messages for certain people who are in attendance at the church service.

Simply put - if you've ever seen John Edward, Sylvia Browne, and/or James Van Praugh and believe that they give messages from the "dead", then you believe in Spiritualism.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

Many people wonder what happens to us when we die. Churches, of one faith or another, have taught us many different beliefs about afterlife communication throughout the ages. The atheist viewpoint is that that once we die we simply snuff out; much like a light bulb that has finally blown. Some with a reincarnation leaning may believe that when we die we come back to live another life. Some followers of reincarnation believe we may return not necessarily as people next time, but in other forms of life which would depend on the deeds we accomplished in our last incarnation. And some angel enthusiasts believe we go on to become wonderful angels, loving and guiding anyone who needs our help.

The Bible teaches that there is nothing that survives after death. It is the opposite of living, there is no thought, feelings, etc. Ecc. 9:5, 10 says that the dead are conscious of nothing at all, neither is there work, or devising, or knowledge in Sheol, the common grave. So who are the ones that you are contacting? It has to be spirit creatures, but not angels because they would not pretend to be dead relatives. So the answer is you are contacting demons who are pretending to be dead people.

Gethsemenerose, there are Jehovah's Witnesses in all parts of the world and all races, not just white people.

Frankly, it doesn't make sense that a Jehovah's Witness would "go white" at the realization that he is speaking with a spiritualist.

If spiritism were something the particular Witness had personally struggled with in the past, it seems possible that he might feel unable to discuss the subject dispassionately and thus logically. However, the bible is the main tool of Jehovah's Witnesses and the bible has many interesting things to say about this subject.

I too am a pagan/spiritualist and have a friend that is a Jehovah's witness. We talk freely of our beliefs every day and find the common ground.
I believe that spirit can be contacted, he believes that once dead you sleep until judgement day, when God will resurrect the worthy ones and lead them into heaven.
What we both agree on is that what really matters is love and truth, regardless of the philosophical differences.

Love and Light

So enable me get this immediately, you condone their activities because you aren't any further leaving the agency, organic and straightforward. you're saying you do not leave because you'll lose your relatives...bull!!! If a relations or chum selections a stupid, ignorant non secular crew over their own relations, then they don't look to be properly worth it. Sorry, i recognize you do not choose to hearken to this, even if it is the reality. you could't stay your existence for some different person, get out of there and do your own element. in case your relatives shuns you for that then they're those dropping. All of you Jehovah's Witness, supply up making excuses and condoning their unlawful and immoral activities and leave. those who enable faith to inform them what to do and to run their existence, i'm sorry, I even haven't any recognize for persons like that.

I know it's good, but in answer to what someone has said being a Spiritualist is nothing to do with the new age. To me being a Spiritualist is being close to God and knowing the truth, and knowing that there is a lot of rubbish written about God and Jesus which has brainwashed millions for years it's called religion.

They have developed a sectarian view that is diametrically opposed to understanding spirituality, they do not understand the difference between gross energy, subtle energy & ultimately the spirit soul, which has a personal relationship with the supreme soul or God.
