i put it on a baking sheet and place it in a 350 degree oven and it always comes out great just make sure to lay on paper towels after to drain grease and u will end up w nicely cooked fresh bacon. if u do decidxe to use stove medium heat works best if u cook bacon to fast and too high of heat it burns if u cook on medium heat it has chance for fat to cook off and crispin up! good luck

Define effective....are we talking about food *you* eat or that someone else does? ;)

If we are talking about food for your own eating, then as one answerer mentioned, using a skillet is ideal, you mainly want to cook the bacon on one side, just sear it a bit on the other (using a turner or spatula type tool) and then take it out of the skillet and let it sizzle on a paper towel, on a plate. The big mistake folks make with Bacon and a few other things is that they assume it has to be evenly cooked on both sides.....

But bacon is cut thin for a reason usually, and that reason is that it is just plain easier to turn it only once, maybe twice total, with the second time being when you take it out of the skillet.

Or, if you have a *lot* of bacon to cook and a low tolerance for both grease splatters and turning....

Get a small cookie sheet or thin pizza pan, preferably non stick, preheat your oven to about 400 degrees (I use an electric so you may get better results with a *lower* temp on gas), lay out the bacon on the sheet, salt and pepper it to taste, stick it in the oven, turning the heat down to 375-350....depends on the oven, and the amount of bacon.

Check every five minutes, but it should take no longer than ten to cook most bacon, and if you do it in the oven, it will turn out flatter than it normally would in a skillet. Just be careful and use proper oven mitts to protect your hands. :)

Hope this helps.

I bake mine.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Take a large jelly roll pan (like a cookie sheet, but it has four sides to it) and put a cooling rack on it. Lay your bacon out on the rack, and bake for about 10 - 15 minutes, or until it looks done enough for you. Flip bacon over and cook an additional 5 - 10 minutes.

There is some grease left on the bacon, but the majority of it drips through the rack and is caught on the pan.

I can't cook it on the stove because I burn it, so I bake it instead:

400 degrees for about 15 minutes;

line your baking sheet with foil to catch the grease;

use a cooling rack to sit the bacon up out of the grease.

It might not be crispy, but if you cover it with some foil and let it sit for about 5 minutes after you take it out of the oven it will continue to cook and get darker. If you want it crispy, leave it in for a few minutes longer but watch it carefully - It will burn easily if you don't.

If you have a George Foreman grill, that would work too.

the way i cook bacon is very easy and it does not stink your house up with that bacon smell and old grease! I take a regular glass plate and put 2 paper towels on it. then i put about 6 pieces of bacon side by side on the paper towels and then cover them with 2 more paper towels. i then cook it in the microwave for about 6 minutes. you can adjust the time - longer to make it crispier or shorter to make it more chewy. you can stop the microwave at any time to check the consistency of the bacon and then start the oven back with no harm to the bacon. you should try it - its easy, quick and the bacon tastes great!

Okay, cook it the way you cook it, but watch it, and when you can't see any fat, but not it is black. Thats when it is ready! And if you are making a meal, and don't want your bacon to get cold when your making something else, put the bacon in the oven, but don't put the heat to high, just put the heat to keep the bacon warm!

Bacon isn't that hard too cook.

At work, I put them on the grill and press the button. It cooks for 21 seconds and it's done.

But guessing you don't have a grill, you have to turn them over. But even so, it still takes only a few seconds.

The way I cook bacon is to put it in a frying pan on Med to Med High (depending on your range) heat and SLOWLY cook it, watch it the entire time. when it's the color that you like take it out on a plate lined with paper towels and let it drain.

If you cook it on High, it will cook too quickly...

If you are making a large mount, like 1 pound or more, bake it on a lipped or edged cookie sheet in the oven at 350 degrees until crisp. Pan frying is also easy.
