To all fellow female engineers. How often do you get asked out? and if you get asked out, around how many percent of those guys are non-engineer?
To guys. What do you think about girls who are engineers?

I'm an engineer, when I was single and working in a UAW plant, I got asked out daily.

No joke. often by the same guy every day. I had a general rule NOT to date anyone I worked with. I got asked out by operators, skilled trades - they weren't shy about it. But I got asked out by fellow engineers, sales guys, you name it.

When I ended up in a technical sales role, I got asked out by customers and suppliers - sometimes they were MARRIED and would try to hit on me at conferences!

I;ve been stalked and harassed, but I take it all in stride.

As a male engineer I find female engineers a little hard to take, but if I wasn't an engineer I'd be all over them....LOL

well if she is clean then why not, she might of been bored of her regular life and wanted to seek some enjoyment with sex and probably thought why not have some enjoyment and earn some side money. I probably wouldn't go out with it unless she is totally clean and is done with that and is overall a good looking and hearted person. You said she went off and on so there is a good chance she will start again so I'd tell your friend to watch out.

I would love to date an engineer. I'm a network engineer and it would be nice to speak with someone that I have something in common with, instead of women just wanting to date me because I'm checkin' 6 digits.

Being a computer engineer, my classes are pretty much wastelands void of females. If the girl is an engineer, and I find her attractive, its great, because that means she's smart too

I hate to agree with blunt .... but most of the female engineers i know do seem to be a little off psychologically.

I have only been an EE for about 6 years, and I only know a dozen or so female engineers, but that is my opinion.

Not all of them mind you, but definitely a majority.

I think you just need to find someone you 'click' with. And to do that you need to date different people.

I know it sounds like an old cliche, but when you find the right guy you will know. It just "feels" right.

DON'T get stuck in a relationship with someone just because you are scared to be on your own.

DON'T date anyone you work with ... no matter how good it looks.

DO get out there and have fun.

good luck ... and by the way ... I am still lookin' too ... you are not alone.

I am an engineer. I have been around women engineers for over 10 years. I went to school with them, I have worked for them and some work for me. I have met exactly one female engineer worth dating.

Almost all girl engineers I have met have serious emotional issues in one way or another. There are very very few level headed, fun, and feminine women engineers that "get the joke" and are not overly defensive. Outside of the vast majority with deep psychological issues there are others that simply must feel superior to other people at all times or just hate men and scornfully try to break perceptions of the male dominated discipline.

If you find a really cool female engineer with a heart and bridled ego, grab her up! She has great earning potential and will be an excellent source of deep and meaningful conversations.

Never made any difference to me what a girl did for a living, it's always been the person that matters
