I had that happen one time too! It was tough to get the fire out. It wasn't threatening, but it just kept moving along the coil, continuing to burn. I got lucky though and it did go out on it's own finally.

As far as cleaning up fire extinguishing agent, you can just use a mild soap and water solution. Dishwashing liquid and warm water works fine. It's important to get it cleaned off as soon as possible though. That ABC chemical can pit metal and painted surfaces if left on for too long.

One of the best way to clean is through petroleum jelly secondly through the mild sulphuric acid solution
